4th of July Appetizers for Your Independence Day Celebration

4th of July recipes are one of my favorite parts of our Independence Day celebration. Before you head to your next barbecue check out these 4th of July appetizers.

A classy and healthy 4th of July appetizers recipe : Cucumbers and Crabmeat

1 cucumber in quarter inch slices

1 package of cream cheese

2 tablespoons of mayonnaise

1 teaspoon dry basil

1/8 of a medium onion chopped fine

1 teaspoon lemon juice

½ package imitation crab meat chopped fine

Mix cream cheese, mayonnaise, basil, onion, lemon juice and crab meat together. Spread on cucumber slices and enjoy! Pre make the cucumber and crabmeat mix or place the crabmeat in a bowl and let everyone spread the mixture on their own cucumbers! Make sure you store this in your fridge before you go and take a cooler to keep it in if you are going to an outdoor barbecue or picnic.

A not so classy, nor healthy 4th of July appetizers recipe : Pigs in a blanket

1 can of refrigerated crescent rolls or biscuits

1 package of little smokies

Roll each little smokie in crescent roll or biscuit. It works best if you cut the crescent rools or biscuits in half or even thirds. Bake in oven as directed on biscuit package and serve on a package! This may not be fancy but they sure get eaten quick! These are best eaten just out of the oven so may not be appropriate for a picnic in the heat.

Take one of these 4th of July recipes with you to your Independence Day celebration!
