4th of July Cocktail Concoctions for Kids

You're in a dilemma, aren't you? You have the whole menu set up for your 4th of July bash, including different cocktails for you and your friends. But you forgot the kids! Don't worry your pretty little head about it. You can choose from this exciting and fun list of drinks that will leave kids thinking they are drinking cocktails with grown-ups!

We'll start nice and simple, and work out way up to more complicated ideas.

Ice Cold Lemonade

The key to pleasing children, as I'm sure you know, is presentation. How something looks is half as important as how it tastes. With that being said, you can serve ice cold Lemonade. It can be any color you want, just make sure you spice up its presentation. Give it to them in a glass, instead of a colorful plastic cup. They'll love it.

Club Soda Fruit Punch

This next one is sure to be a party favorite. You can make fruit punch out of a frozen can. But instead of using water, use club soda! It will give it that fizzy look and flavor that all kids long for. If you are feeling frisky, you can add chunks of strawberry. Maybe throw in some blueberries. Yea, blueberries are good.

Mommy's Margaritas

"Mommy, what's a margarita?" Have you ever heard this question before? Why not give the kids what you drink, without the alcohol? Other than a syrupy sweet mixture which may lead to a temporary sugar high, this is a great idea. Send the kids outside with their drinks. Sound too easy? Good. It's supposed to.

Cool Cubes

This last idea is a tab bit more complicated, but well worth the extra effort. You can trademark the name if you want. It's bound to be a success. Take your basic ice cube tray, and fill up each cube half way with a favorite soda, like mountain dew or example. Then, fill the other half of the cubes with their favorite juice, for example fruit punch. Put it into the freezer over night. Take it out when you're ready to give them to the kids. Not only can they put them into their drinks, but they can pop them into their mouths as a tasty treat. Perfect.

My kids want to help me make their drinks. What can I do?

Tell them no. No, just kidding. They can definitely help you make the drinks, although some of which more than others.

· With the lemonade, you can go to the grocery store before hand and buy a few lemons. Have the frozen lemonade already made and in a pitcher. Tell the kids that your arm got tired from squeezing the lemons to make the juice. Now it's their turn.

· The Club Soda Fruit Punch is an easy drink to have the kids help too. Let them pour each half into a closeable bottle. Tell them to shake it up, and then have them pour it out into a glass. Easy for everyone.

· Mommy's Margaritas are about as simple as can be. Pour the Margarita mix into the blender, and let the kids push the blend button until they are satisfied. Simple as that.

· The Cool Cubes will probably be the most fun for the kids. Before you have the kids put in their favorite soda and juice, let them put candy in the bottom of the tray. Maybe some gummy bears or gummy worms. Maybe even some pop rocks. Let them put in whatever tickles their fancy. Then proceed with the soda and juice. Freeze. The end.

If you have any other ideas for fun drinks for your kids use those too. But I strongly suggest the Cool Cubes. Don't have kids at your 4th of July party without them. Seriously, don't do it. You'll regret it.
