4th of July Cocktails

Zach F
Parties are a great way to celebrate the holidays, and themed parties are always sure to make the host stand out and the party be remembered as a truly special event.

So, this Fourth of July, why not celebrate Independence Day with some Red, White and Blue cocktails, that may look "frilly" but are strong enough that they are sure to get the party started?

First, the cocktails.

Red-Raspberry Sherbet Martini
One of my favorites. Although it's light red, almost pink, it's refreshing enough to be perfect for the Fourth of July or any other summer occasion.

Combine:
1 1/2 ounces Chambord
1 1/2 ounces Citrus vodka
3/4 ounce cranberry juice
3/4 ounce cream

in a shaker. Shake until chilled and strain into a chilled cocktail (martini) glass.

White-Frozen Margarita
A classic, and another sure hit for the hot summertime months. This recipe will make one of the best margaritas you've ever had. I promise.

Fill a blender with ice. Add:

6 ounces clear tequila
3 ounces triple sec
3 ounces lime juice
3 ounces sours mix

Blend and pour. This should make about 4 margaritas. You can always rim the glasses with salt if you'd like, and a lime wheel garnish will make these look as good as they taste.

Blue-Electric Lemonade
The Long Island's festive cousin. This drink tastes great and is sure to get your party off to a good start. Be careful, these sneak up on you.

Fill a pint glass and add:
1 1/2 ounce vodka
1 1/2 ounce gin
1 1/2 ounce clear tequila
1 1/2 ounce clear rum
1 1/2 ounce blue curacao

Now fill the remainder of the glass with half lemonade, half Sprite.

Red, white and blue- Bomb Pops
This is a great shot for the rowdier crowd, and looks and tastes just like America's favorite patriotic popsicle.

Fill a rocks glass about half way with Smirnoff Ice.
Now, fill a shot glass about 3/4 with Blue UV Vodka and top off with grenadine.
Drop your shot in your Smirnoff Ice and drink.

Alternatively, most liquor stores now sell plastic, disposable shot glasses specially designed for Jager Bombs, car bombs, and other drop shots.
