4th of July Festivities in Charlotte, NC

With the 4th of July approaching, it is time for you to start thinking about how you and your family are going to celebrate Independence Day. In Charlotte, there are several choices on how to spend a festive and safe 4th of July.

Knight's Stadium July 4th Game and Skyshow. This is an annual event and a favorite for baseball enthusiasts. What better way to celebrate Independence Day than to spend it eating hot dogs, watching a baseball game, and then enjoying an incredible fireworks show when the game is over?

Presbyterian Hospital 4th of July Spectacular (Red, White, and Boom). This is a popular Independence Day event in Charlotte, held at Memorial Stadium. My family and I have enjoyed many 4th of July celebrations at the stadium. It's a good idea to go early and bring a blanket to sit on. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase, so the stadium requests that you do not bring in any coolers or food. Make an entire afternoon and evening of it. Family activities will begin at 4 and the fireworks show will begin at 9:30 (weather permitting).

Celebrate America presented by the Charlotte Symphony Pops Orchestra. This concert is held in Symphony Park on July 4th, and will feature patriotic tunes with Albert-George Schram conducting. The concert will also include the voices of the Oratorio Singers of Charlotte, Carolina Voices, and Myers Park Presbyterian Church Choir. Symphony Park is a great place to spend an afternoon and evening. One of my family's most enjoyable 4th of July celebrations was the patriotic concert at Symphony Park. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic. If you would rather purchase food there, there are always vendors available.

Coca-Cola 4th of July Festival at the National Whitewater Center. This event is the perfect way to spend a fun-filled Independence Day with your family. The center is hosting a 3 day festival in honor of the 4th of July, featuring free live music and fireworks on July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. The music will begin at 4 each day and entertainment includes Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Langhorn Slim, and Anders Osbourne. Fireworks over the river will conclude each evening. Make sure and go to spend the day enjoying some of the many activities that the center has to offer, including rafting, rock climbing, zip-lining, or just relaxing by the river. This is a great time for the family, and one that you will always remember.

However you decide to spend the 4th of July with your family, remember to celebrate safely. All of the above activities are sure to be safe as well as fun-filled. Enjoy your holiday!
