July 3
Fernandina Farmers Market
Corner of Centre and 7th Streets
9 am - 1 pm
This is a weekly event but what could be more American than a good 'ol farmers market. This is one of the best with yummy vegetables and lots of interesting foods and plants to taste and buy, too. I'm sure someone will have cooked up something perfect for the holiday weekend, too.

July 3
Stars and Stripes Freedom Festival
Central Park, Atlantic Avenue
10 am - 2 pm
If you have a child who loves fire trucks, this is the 4th of July celebration for you. The Stars and Stripes Freedom Festival features a "Touch a Truck" event on Saturday to let children of all ages interact with and get to know public safety personnel and their vehicles. You'll find fire trucks, police cars, ambulances, as well as other child favorites such as dump trucks, excavators, muscle cars, boats and more.

You'll also enjoy an Apple Pie Eating Contest, a Parent-Child Look Alike Contest, food, arts and crafts, kids playground, and an opportunity to make a thank you card for active military personnel.

These activities are a one-day-only event.

July 4
Stars and Stripes Freedom Festival
Centre Street
7 - 10 pm
The Fernandina Beach Stars and Stripes Freedom Festival continues on the 4th of July with the quintessential small town parade and fireworks display. The parade begins at 7 pm. The Community Choir will perform on the Train Depot Lawn from 8 - 9 pm, then there will be fireworks on the waterfront at 9:35 pm. If you've never seen fireworks over the water, this is a perfect place to start a new Independence Day tradition.

If you'd like to get away from it all and still see the fireworks, consider taking a boat cruise just for the event! Amelia River Cruises offers a one hour cruise out to view the fireworks from the water. Price is a very affordable $10 per person and you can bring your own food and drinks to enjoy. This is something I've always wanted to do, so, I might see you there!

July 3 and 4
Union Garrison
Fort Clinch State Park

Saturday 9 am - 5 pm
Sunday 9 am - Noon

If you've never been to Fort Clinch State Park, it is a must-see! Especially when there is a special event such as the Union or Confederate Garrison "occupying" the fort. The views from the fort are spectacular and it is one of the best forts I've ever been to. Not to mention, there is a beautiful beach and fishing area, biking trails, and more. You can find more information on Fort Clinch State Park here.
