Noisemaker and Wreath

Paper plates are an inexpensive way to let kids do craft projects. Here are just a couple ideas for Independence Day with these 4th of July Paper Plate Crafts for Kids.

Noisemaker 4th of July Paper Plate Craft for Kids

Supplies. 2 paper plates, dried beans, stapler, red, white and blue poster paints and optional other decorations.

Instructions. Cover work area. I like to use cheap disposable plastic table cloths as there is less sticking as the paint dries.

Place the paper plates together with insides facing. Staple closely around the edges, leaving a four to six inch opening in the top. Have your child place a handful or two of dried beans in the opening, then staple the opening as you did the rest of the plates.

Let your child paint and decorate the paper plates in a red, white and blue theme, one side of the noisemaker at a time. Allow to dry thoroughly before painting the other side. Then let dry before gluing or stapling on other decorations.

Wreath 4th of July Paper Plate Craft for Kids

Supplies. Paper plate, printable star pattern (see end of article for link), red and blue construction paper, glue.

Instructions. Cut the inside out of a paper plate, leaving about two inches of the rim.

Get a star stencil in the size desired. You can find a link at the end of the article for a printable star stencil. Use your printer's reduce or enlarge options to make the star the size desired.

Cut out the star and glue it to a piece of cardboard or poster board. Let the glue dry thoroughly. Cut out around the star shape and you have a star stencil for craft projects.

Trace the star stencil onto red and blue construction paper and cut out as many stars as desired. Glue the stars to the paper plate rim for a red, white and blue wreath decoration.

If desired, you may paint the rim of the paper plate with red or blue poster paint. Then you can use construction paper to make blue and white or red and white stars depending on the color of the paper plate. Be sure to let the paint dry thoroughly before gluing on the stars.
