4th Street Bowl in San Jose, CA

A Local PBA Authorized Bowling Center

Last month I had the privilege to attend an official PBA Tour event at 4th Street Bowl in San Jose. The PBA West\NW 2010 Don Johnson Memorial Classic qualifying was really interesting to watch. 4th Street Bowl, located at 1441 North 4th Street San Jose, CA 95112, is easily accessible from either Highway 101 or Interstate 880, and is an official PBA (Professional Bowling Association) approved center.

This was my first time being in this local bowling center. My husband was participating in the qualifying for the above mentioned tournament. He had recently been accepted into the PBA and is now eligible to compete in PBA events. This was his first event, and it was fascinating to watch him and all the other bowlers, some professional and some not, attempt to qualify for the finals the next day. On the pair of lanes next to him was Tony Reyes, a Pro who has been on TV more times than I can count. Tony Reyes is there often and owns "Off the Sheet" Pro Shop, located inside the facility.

4th Street Bowl has been recently remodeled and has 32 synthetic lanes, automatic scoring and even automatic bumpers for the kids. They also have pool tables, video games, and eight 42" High Definition LCD monitors for our TV enjoyment. There is plenty of room to walk around or sit, and you don't feel suffocated when you are here. The atmosphere is really pleasant and everyone is very friendly. 4th Street Bowl offers leagues for all age groups and competition levels. (Click here for a listing of their most recent leagues.)

This center also has an excellent coffee shop that serves delicious meals at a fair price. My husband and I both had chef salads and were amazed at the quantity and quality of the food. We were stuffed. Our kids enjoyed the chicken nuggets. The best part was that they allowed us to take the food out of the coffee shop and eat while watching people bowl. The next time we are there, I want to try many other items on their menu. (Click here for the full lane menu.) New York Strip Sandwich, Linguica Sandwich and Shrimp Louis (salad) are just a few of the wonderful food items in this coffee shop.

My first experience at this local bowling center was wonderful and I plan on going back again. San Jose has plenty to offer, and this is just one of the many hidden gems in this grand city.

Cool food for a bowling alley! The lanes I used to bowl on in Jersey, the pro shop's pro was Johnny Patraglia, this was many many moons ago.
