What goes on in the 4th week of Pregnancy
The moment the woman missed on her menstrual period is probably the best signal that she is pregnant. The missed period is indeed one of the more reliable signs of pregnancy. Some women, however, may experience implantation bleeding also on the same time of their period. This is something that should not be fret about. This bleeding is usually lighter and even shorter than the woman's normal period. This is the very reason why the woman is usually asked the first day of her last normal period to reckon on her pregnancy. There are also women who have their monthly period on the same time of their pregnancy but these occurrences are just rare.
Essentially, the 1st to the 4th week is the period of fertilization. It is this period in pregnancy that the sperm is transformed into a fertilized ovum.
The 4th week of pregnancy is exactly 5 days after conception. It is this period that implantation occurs. The embryo which is called the blastocyst begins its travel to the uterus to find for a nice place to implant. There, it burrows beneath the surface of the uterus. Then, its cells begin to divide into 2 groups: one will later form the placenta and the other one will form the baby.
The normal occurrence of implantation is when you exactly expect your period. At this point in pregnancy, some would-be-moms may experience cramping and some may have spotting. Essentially, most mothers-to-be find no significant changes in their body as yet at this stage of the pregnancy.
Early Pregnancy Signs
Nausea commonly known as morning sickness, is one of the earliest manifestation of one being pregnant. It is also a notorious sign and one of the most dreaded occurrences by many women. Although a common sign of early pregnancy, morning sickness displays different levels of manifestations in different women. Some women may experience slight queasiness or sometimes, none at all. On the other hand, some sufferers may be reduced to a diet of crackers and ginger powder. Accounts, however, would say that it is something debilitating, depressing or even alienating. A good part, however, in this phenomena is that it is a tangible indication that the embryo has firmly implanted itself in the uterine lining and just about the baby most awaited for.
Dealing with the nausea and the morning sickness is just one of it. You may also expect to feel soreness and uneasiness as your body then adjusts to all the changes that are taking place. A more concrete manifestation is that your breasts and abdomen then become more tender. Expect that you may also be taking more frequent trips to the bathroom in this 4th week.
Emotional and psychological adjustments may just be the end effects of the inevitable occurrence of morning sickness during this particular period. It is therefore imperative for the pregnant mom to be fully aware of this consequence and fully adjust to it so that the major impacts that may cause it may just be minimized. This will then bring her to a more somber and lighter journey to her full pregnancy.
