There are of a number of social networking sites out there for African Americans, who are looking to meet new people and discuss subjects that are indicative to the black communities and culture. I have chosen to highlight just five of these African American social sites. These sites are in no way exclusive and welcome all races, however, you will find that the majority are black men and women, of all ages and lifestyles, who gather to share on variety of subjects. Whether you are looking for new friends or to make business connections, you will find that these five sites offers many ways to do this.
Blackpeopleone is an social site with a Myspace format. The site has many features which include groups, forums, blogs, and classified ad posting. Although there seemed to be some inactivity, the site has a very comfortable atmosphere. If you are looking for a place to share positive thoughts, political ideas, and social concerns, I recommend becoming a member of Blackpeopleone. The site is black owned and operated by Curtis Lilly.
Allurban Connected highlights several sites that are dedicated to presenting news and events of interest to the African American community. Members are welcome to share their business sites, blogs and music.
Blackplanet is one of the largest of the African American social sites. It offers an abundant of number of ways to socialize and network through groups, blogs, bulletins, forums, live chat, and instant messaging. The site is extremely active and give members a way to connect for dating or professional networking.
Blacksocialcircle offers many opportunities for members to socialize and network through classified posting, live chat and groups. The site seems to be somewhat active, however, new members looking to share new ideas and views would be more than welcomed. The atmosphere is personal and inviting.
Blackinamerica is a social network for the socially conscious African American. The site is very active and offers a warm atmosphere, with groups, polls, a event calendar and blogs.
In order for these sites to succeed, new members must share their experience and invite new members and new members should jump in and immediately become active. Join, share and enjoy. Don't just join to post your business opportunity, but, take a few moments to post in the forums, add a friend, or create an interesting blog. Take the opportunity to learn and share.

Post a CommentI assume you expect me to comment immediately on the question you asked above. In my opinion the Social Networking Sites on the Internet are primarily used to pass the time by those who have given up the Urban Nitelife, and various other Social gathering venues in our major Cities that have become infested with an excess of Criminal Activity. For many people it's not safe to socialize directly anymore, so the Internet has become a substitute.
However, to get back to making my unrelated original comment. You mentioned the inactivity of many of the Sites in your piece. It appears to me that that appears to be a problem with many new Websites, they fail to start with an adequate number of friends and relatives who are interested in participating in developing a quality social Website. Most Sites lack a suficient Base of People participating. So If they don't have an adequate number of people (8-10) to start with, they shouldn't have started a Website in the first place. If you don't
Great article and great sites!
very nice review, as always.
