Atlanta Destinations for the Kid in Your Life

Plan an inspirational, educational or just plain fun trip to Atlanta. Whether spring, summer, winter or fall, there's always some fun to be had in Atlanta.

How do you spell F-U-N in the A-T-L?

Well, we've got five ways to spell it for you. Whether you're a kid at heart or have kids yourself, Atlanta has a lot to offer. Here are five places any kid (including the tall variety) would want to visit in the ATL. Included in this list of Atlanta favorites are websites so you can plan ahead, buy your tickets in advance and pack in as many adventures as possible. General admission prices are listed, but check their websites for specials, combo deals and memberships which might give you a better deal depending on the time of year, special events, etc.

Fernbank Museum of Natural History "Come face to face with the world's largest dinosaurs!" touts their website at www.fernbankmuseum.org/. With an IMAX® Theatre, ancient fossils and a star gallery..."it's a journey to another time and place." Let them make history come alive for you. Prices are as follows: Adults $15, Students and Seniors $14, Children ages 3-12 get in for $13, and children under two get in for free, but still must have a ticket. This does not include the IMAX Theatre, but they do offer a lower price when you purchase your admission and IMAX ticket together.

Georgia Aquarium The world's largest, with over 8 million gallons of water...claims their website at www.georgiaaquarium.org/. Can you say carnivorous red Piranha? This is just one of the many you can view at the Georgia Aquarium. Come walk through their acrylic tunnel or stand in front of a gigantic viewing window; they say you will feel like a SCUBA diver in an endless blue sea, mesmerized by thousands of fish swimming overhead. Come see the only manta rays in a U.S. aquarium, ever. Are you convinced yet? Admission Prices are as follows: Adults: $35, Children ages 3-12: $26, Seniors 65 and Up: $30.25. Though second on our list it is actually considered one of the top attractions in Atlanta and is located in the heart of Atlanta.

Dave & Buster's Oh yeah! Check out their website at http://www.daveandbusters.com/default.aspx for three locations in the Atlanta area. Shoot some zombies or race some cars in their interactive and video arcade. Then bowl or play some billiards to wind down before you eat. Choose from appetizers, juicy burgers, fresh seafood or succulent steaks... then go play some more! Eat and Play Combo is offered for $15.99 at most locations where you choose one of eight entrees and get a $10 game card.

Don't forget the Pandas at Zoo Atlanta. Though fourth on our list, these lovable creatures are first in our hearts here in Atlanta. Visit their website to plan a trip at http://zooatlanta.org/. Learn about these giant Pandas, plants or green tips. They've got it all at Zoo Atlanta...from birds to reptiles to mammals to amphibians. Sponsor an animal or buy a t-shirt to help keep the Pandas in Atlanta. Admission is $18.99 for adults, $13.99 for children, $14.99 for seniors and children under three get in free.

Quench your thirst for fun at the World of Coca-Cola, invites their website at www.worldofcoca-cola.com. Visit their Happiness Factory Theatre before you step into their bottling line to see Coke being made before your very eyes. Then take your taste buds on a trip around the world at their tasting station. Before you leave, visit their Secret Formula 4-D Theatre, a 3-D Movie enhanced with moving seats! Price of admission is $15 for adults, $13 for Seniors, $10 for youth; toddlers get in free with an adult.

So whether you're a kid at heart or just a big kid, we think you'll find that Atlanta is a destination for fascination.

These are great Lynn. I discovered the Aquarium was not far from the Children's Museum in Atlanta.

I love everything about Atlanta - particularly the restaurants. Almost time to visit again. Great resource. :-)

I didn't get to do any of this stuff when I was in Atlanta. If I ever go back, I'll make it a point to visit the Aquarium and Zoo.

I'd love to make it up to Atlanta someday with my little boy he would enjoy the Fernbank Museum so much. We live in North Florida near Valdosta, Georgia.

Cool article! I have only been to Atlanta once and have been itching to return ever since. While there, I recorded a mock newscast at CNN and told a story about a panda giving birth at the zoo...good times.
