5 Attractions Parents of a Toddler May Want to Avoid at Walt Disney World

Tips for Rides and Toddlers at Walt Disney World

Amanda M. Rose
While every child is different, and children all have different intensity levels, there are a few rides at Walt Disney World, where a toddler or preschooler are welcome to ride or enjoy, but parents should review the ride or show and the details of it before hand. Some rides and attractions can be quite intense, or will touch on some fear factors for many toddlers, including bugs, dark, loud noises, etc.

1. Tough to be a Bug - "During the performance, please refrain from buzzing, stinging and pollinating". This is an amazing 4D show at Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom with incredible effects. The show features a very mean and scary 'Hopper', and at many times will be much too intense for a toddler or young child. If you would like for you toddler to try this amazing show at Walt Disney World, sit near the exit and leave if it is too scary for your child.

2. Snow White's Scary Adventures - This ride at Walt Disney World allows the guests to ride through the scary story of Snow White. While the name should give it away that it is a little more intense than your average ride such as "It's a Small World", many families still seem oblivious. On this ride there is an encounter with the Wicked Witch, who is quite wicked, and the encounter is incredibly close to you and your toddler. The ride at Walt Disney World has been tamed down a little, as they have now added Snow White, who seems to calm a toddler or young child down.

3. Fantasmic - While the loud noises and fireworks are completely okay for some toddler and young children, if you do not have a Walt Disney World dinner package at Hollywood Studios, that will allow you to get out of the long wait on this show, it is probably best that it is skipped. It is suggested that you get to the attraction very early, which can be tiring for a toddler, and to risk having to leave the attraction because of how dark and loud it is within minutes of the show starting is somewhat exhausting. By all means, if your toddler or child enjoys fireworks and has no fear of dark, take them to the show, but I would still suggest sitting towards the exit, so you can escape easily if need be.

4. Honey I Shrunk the Audience - Another 3-D show at Epcot Future World. This is a great show at Walt Disney World but there is a point where a snack and lion appear to jump off the movie screen which can obviously be quite scary for a toddler or young child.

5. Dinosaur - While I am a true advocate that if my child is tall enough to ride a ride than by all means, we should ride it, but this ride at Walt Disney World Animal Kingdom is an exception. The ride requirements are 40", but the ride is incredibly intense. There are no lights, except for the light on your vehicle. The light on the incredible jerky vehicle comes to rest on a huge dinosaur that roars right at the vehicle. This is definitely a ride that a family with a toddler or young child should avoid.

I totally agree with your list, but I would ad the Stitch attraction. My kids love Stitch and they were scared to death!

It's been so long since I've been there, I haven't even heard of some of these. I screamed my way through the Pirates of the Caribbean was I was little.
