5 Bad Internet Habits You Want to Kick

Deflect Internet Vulnerability

Lori Lane
Don't travel in unfamiliar territory, you may catch a cold. So, it's 2009, researching feels like a needle in a haystack. Research is the name and submitting is the game, but I have created a silly habit that has serious consequences. I'll admit it, I Google for some of the daily information but behind some of the links are hidden viruses, but did I think of this? No, I just wanted my answers, my path. Boom, and there it was like H1N1.

Google is not the only viral playground, there are millions of links online to find one.

Two computers later, lesson learned. Do not travel to unfamiliar territory, or at least not without the latest virus protection.

Don't believe everything you read, especially nasty comments. Comments, how we all love comments. From "you know as much as my kid" or "my kid knows more than you." Comments, brilliant comments of honesty whereas a person can spell it out as true as day. But the only thing about comments is that someone's going to say you "suck" every now and then, sometimes more. That's when you shouldn't believe everything you hear.

Paint your own fence, let the other dried out wood rotted fence stand alone with it's unnatural bitter attitude.

You shouldn't believe every media turn. Did you notice people die in Google all the time. Last week it was Matt Damon and today it's "Will Ferrell dead", but they are both living, breathing, no matter what people Google.

Rumors are just as bad. How many times will people get it wrong, twice as much as getting it right. So, do your homework and make sure you find the news from a couple of sources instead of relying on one true source. Bad habits begin with blind vulnerability.

Don't believe everything you hear, it's not always a fountain of truth. Did anyone tell you that you will win a prize or that you should give them your address in order to get the prize? Don't count your chickens yet, seems like some turkey found his way into your roost. Some Internet prize "patrols" are not legal, so making sure you can find a phone number and address to the company that claims you won a prize. This is the best direction to take. Call the company and the local Better Business to seek any negative reports prior to accepting any prize.

Rambling when typing, I'm guilty, we all are guilty. There is not one person that does not fall into rambling every now and then. Bad habits include rambling. There are times you will read my stuff and think it's rambling. But how to stop that? Simply get to the point as I will right now, stop going on-and-on-and-on-and-on.

Don't roam into every link you see. Don't believe everything you read. Don't believe the media in it's overcoat and case. Don't believe everything you hear. I'll take it all with a grain of salt, caution is best for the good thing I've got. And no matter what, meaning no matter what...believe me dear, my kind of place, the Internet - but most of all, do not ramble. That's a wrap.

Ramblers were pretty good cars as best as I can remember, but people that ramble well don't put so much stock in them or search engines that do either. Great article my new friend. Johnny Yuma
