5 Best Adult Swim Games on Adultswim.Com

Amanda King
You've probably seen Adult Swim, that block of time from 10 p.m. at night to the early morning hours where they show cartoons not made for children or the politically correct among us. As Adult Swim's famous black and white bumps will tell you, they offer more than a few hours of television every night. Adult Swim also shows off those who spend a little bit of time playing the games on their web site, Adultswim.com. I've made it my personal goal to become one of those whose Adult Swim user name pops up on one of the many bumps during the night. I've played through the 50 plus games on Adultswim.com so you don't have to and bring to you my top 5 ways to kill a little time during the day. Each game is unique and interesting and expect a little bit of gross out humor as if you were watching the shows Adult Swim has to offer.

Adult Swim game #1: Amateur Surgeon
Amateur Surgeon is just a gory version of Operation. You become a surgeon to extract various items from the bodies of criminals and homeless people using the objects you have on hand. Those objects can include a pizza cutter, stapler, salad tongs, a lighter, and a corkscrew... among other things. Just like Operation, it is a lot harder than it looks. You have a limited time on each patient and you have to be careful how you use your tools or else you can risk a chance at losing them. Amateur Surgeon is one of those games that once you start playing you keep going until you win. Once you've played through the original version, there is a Christmas version. It's the same thing, just with all your favorite Christmas time characters.

Adult Swim game #2: Floater
Sometimes the best things in life are the simplest. Floater is one of those simple joys. Floater is a newer game to the Adult Swim website and one of the easiest to play. All you have is a stick and with that stick you push a dead body down a river. Don't avoid too many obstacles. You rack up points if you hit rocks, come across hungry animals, or run into a toxic waste drum. There are checkpoints that you pass the body through and gain more time. Floater is so easy and no matter how bad you are at it, you still get a lot of points, and that kind of reinforcement will make you want to play it over and over again.

Adult Swim game #3: Vending Machine Champ
If a vending machine ever stole your dollar but kept your bag of chips, this is the game for you. Here you get a chance to shake and beat the machine until you get your candy bar or bag of chips out of the machine. All you have to do is follow the targets that show you where to kick and hit the machine. Just watch out, you can shake the machine too hard and have it fall on you. But if you're really good, you'll be able to extract your snack without too much damage to yourself. At first it seemed like a silly concept for a game, but it became one of the more popular Adult Swim games probably due to how easily addicting it is. There's even an iPhone app for those who can't get to a computer but need their Vending Machine Champ fix.

Adult Swim game #4: 5 Minutes To Kill Yourself
A bit extreme in the way that it suggests that the only way of getting out of an office meeting or a family reunion is to kill yourself, but 5 Minutes To Kill Yourself is a fun way to make five minutes fly by. There is an office version and a family reunion version. I find that the family reunion version is easier to control, but the office version has a lot more ways to end your character's life. The premise of both versions is that you have five minutes to kill yourself using objects and sometimes people that are in your surroundings. If you don't think you can kill yourself with a stapler or a lighter, think again. Those objects will help you throughout the game.

Adult Swim game #5: Spell My Finger
Okay. So the title is a little... raunchy? But this game is nothing like that. It's a new game on Adult Swim and a little bit out of the norm of what you would expect from them. You are given control of a finger that you have to navigate towards letters to spell words. There are even bonus blocks, but watch out for the blocks that erase part of the word on you. You get points for every word you spell out, but lose points for incomplete or misspelled words. So yeah, it's a spelling game. But it's a lot of fun to play and it tests your vocabulary. Aside from the title, it could even be one that the kids could play.

Now why don't you go test your skills at AdultSwim.com and see if you can get your name on the high score bump? That's where I'll be, trying out their new game Fantasy Telemarketer.
