The Tourist (tie)
I didn't realize The Tourist was meant to be a comedy until it was nominated for a Golden Globe in the best comedy category. Once I realized it was a comedy, strangely enough, it actually became more funny. Go figure. Expectations count is the lesson learned here. It is a better movie than the trailer makes it seem although the performance by Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp border that of the TV Show Burn Notice. Almost too much of the same note over and over, but still good and humorous performances. While I am most likely in the minority here, I prefer Johnny Depp in The Tourist over Alice in Wonderland.
Date Night (tie)
Date Night wasn't as funny as I had hoped it would be given the casting of Tina Fey and Steve Carell, but it was still one of the most funny movies of 2010. It would have been even more funny had they not included so many funny scenes in the trailer for Date Night such as the "oh God no, he turned it sideways, that's a kill shot, a kill shot!" scene. Comedic support by James Franco and Mila Kunis added to the overall comedy factor.
The Other Guys
Like Date Night, The Other Guys wasn't as funny as I had hoped it would be given the casting of Will Ferrell and odd couple theme of the movie. But moments of the film were hilarious enough to make the best five comedies of 2010. Besides Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, Michael Keaton and The Rock were both surprising funny in the film as well.
Dinner For Schmucks
Dinner For Schmucks was actually more funny than I thought it would be based on the trailer. The trailer for the comedy made it seem as if it was just going to be one outrageous gag after another, but there is actually a sweet story behind all of the comedic moments. The scene where Steve Carell is dodging bottles and ends by playing dead is one of the funniest scenes I saw in 2010. One of the Golden Globe nominations for best comedic performance should have gone to Steve Carell.
Get Him to the Greek
Get Him to the Greek felt a tad too long, but almost every scene contained a good laugh thanks to Russell Brand and Jonah Hill. Of all the five best films, this story was the weakest but the comedic performances are what puts it ahead of The Tourist, Date Night, The Other Guys and Dinner for Schmucks. Jonah Hill should have been nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance in Get Him to the Greek. The kid is hilarious.
Easy A
As others have said, Easy A did have some sort of John Hughes feel to it, which if you grew up in the 80's makes Easy A likable and one of the best comedy films by default. But Easy A really is all about Emma Stone. If Emma Stone doesn't win the Golden Globe tonight for best actress in a comedy film, that will just add to the conspiracy theory that Award shows are rigged.
