5 of the Best Commercials on Television Number 1: Keebler "Sisters" Airing
Do you remember being a kid and having brothers and/or sisters and there's only one of something you both want? How often did you fight over it with your sibling? Well, in this touching commercial, big sister has a chance to get the only Keebler cookie in the bag, but while little sister is standing there with those pleading eyes and asking nicely for the cookie, the older relents. Yet big sister comes to find another cookie in the bag immediately after her selfless act of giving. I always think of Associated Content writer Michele Starkey's touching article on giving when I see the spot, which you can read here.
5 of the Best Commercials on Television Number 2: Subaru's "Baby Driver" Ad
A father "seems" to be telling a little girl, who's sitting in a driver's seat of a Subaru, to do this and that before he gives her the keys to his car. Finally, the little girl impatiently retorts back, and dad finally lets loose the keys, but then it's now a teenaged girl sitting in the seat, getting a chance at her first solo driving. This is clever marketing that definitely plays on parents' concerns about their teens driving for the first time and how a Subaru can supposedly make things more hopeful. According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, the two girls seen in the ad are the real life daughters of actor Andy Lyons, the father in the spot.
5 of the Best Commercials on Television Number 3: Aflac Duck Spots
The Aflac Duck just doesn't get any respect, does he? He does his best and goes to great lengths to try to name drop the supplemental insurance company, but does anyone pay attention? Do people think this duck is just quacking about? Nonetheless, the persistence of this bird is something enjoyable to watch during commercial breaks. According to Wikipedia, this advertising symbol uses the voice of actor and comedian Gilbert Gottfried.
5 of the Best Commercials on Television Number 4: Geico R. Lee Ermey Spot
This auto insurer overkills on the amount of ads it airs on television, especially with that gecko character, but amongst the plentiful array of spots, one is definitely 5 of the best commercials on television. Former drill sergeant and star of both the big and small screens, R. Lee Ermey, helps make the point humorously playing an unsympathetic shrink in order to stress the answer of "Yes" to the question as to whether Geico saves people money on their car insurance. You can see the ad here on YouTube
5 of the Best Commercials on Television Number 5: "Hello JELL-O" Ads
I'm terrible at remembering the lyrics to songs, but even I can't forget the catchy commercial jingle for this iconic gelatin and pudding brand because the lyrics quite simply entail spelling out the name of JELL-O in a happy and engaging manner backed up with images of people, for instance, being handed JELL-O cups in New York City. Bill Cosby is the executive producer of the ads, according to brandchannel
