5 Best Episodes of Deadliest Catch Season 4

Season four of Deadliest Catch was one of the best seasons. Here is a look at my five favorite episodes:

Deadliest Catch: Episode 37 - Get 'Em Back Safe!

The first episode contained a lot of elements that continued through the season. Concerns were voiced, repairs were needed, and pranks were planned. Captain Phil's son Jake went on a spending spree with his dad's credit card, buying a flat screen TV. He gets busted for it. The Hillstrands make their traditional call home to mom before the season starts, but she voices her concerns for their safety. The Time Bandit loaded an old pickup truck on their boat to play a prank on the Cornelia Marie.

Deadliest Catch: Episode 38 - Striking Out

This episode has to be included in the favorites list because you can't watch the pickup truck prank being staged without seeing the end result. In this episode, the crew of the Cornelia Marie labors to pull up one of their pots. They finally bring it to the surface and it is the pickup truck! Harris has a good laugh, even though the prank was at his expense. He calls Hillstrand and tells him that the prank was A+.

Deadliest Catch: Episode 42 - Striking Out

The Northwestern offloads 180,000 pounds of crab and races back out to sea. Captain Sig moves to a different fishing ground, but it turns out to be a bad location. Mike Fish of the Early Dawn gives one of the greenhorns a chance to throw the hook to pull up the pots. He gets it right after six tries, and gets a lesson in humility in the process as well. The Wizard offloaded at Dutch Harbor, and picked up a porta-potty to play a prank on the North American. They attach it to one of the other boat's pots and throw it overboard.

Deadliest Catch: Episode 47 - Big Weather, Big Trouble

An emergency weather warning has the crews scrambling to make progress. Heavy seas surrounded the boats and battered the crew. This episode highlighted the dangers that the fisherman face. Captain Sig forces his crew to work two nights straight. The crew was tired, and made the mistake of failing to dog down one of the pots. The pot slid off the launcher and pinned Jake Anderson to the sorting table. The crew worked quickly to free him before he was crushed. Caption Phil has a confrontation with his son Jake over his work ethic. The Northwestern ends up fishing for thirty-five straight hours.

Deadliest Catch: Episode 52 - The Final Hour

The first and last episodes are always amongst my favorites in Deadliest Catch. The season begins with hopes and good cheer, and ends with everyone happy to have made it back in one piece, and slightly worse for wear. Captain Phil Harris had left for medical reasons on a previous episode, and now he considers his future. The crew of the Wizard discovers a hole in their tank.

These are my favorite episodes from the Season Four DVD of Deadliest Catch. I am looking forward to season five.
