Good guide, but I'd suggest renting a flat in Rio. The hotel standards are not the same as europe and north america....we rented a flat last Carnival and loved it. There's lots of companies around the city, but we used www.holidaysinrio.com. They showed us a few really nice and modern flats, and all their staff spoke english....an added bonus that made it much easier!
