5 Best Sports Movies

Jeremy Ross
Here is a list of what I believe to be the five best sport movies of all time. My goal was to choose movies that are all not from the same category such as baseball, but rather have a mix of sports. There are two football movies, but I firmly believe they deserve to be in the top five. I will rank them in the order that I see fit.

5. Rookie Of The Year

Rookie Of The Year is a story of a boy who is thirteen years old who ends up playing for the Chicago Cubs. He is a pitcher who can throw the fast ball and strike out the best of the best. Everyone I know loves this movie and remembers it as a part of their childhood.

4. Rudy

Rudy is a movie based on a real life football player at Notre Dame. Rudy is much smaller than the other players, and as a result has trouble getting playing time during games. It turns out that the biggest heart of the team is in the player with the smallest body. This is a story of perseverance on not giving up on your dreams.

3. Remember The Titans

Remember The Titans, starring Denzel Washington, is about a football team during the times of segregation. This is the first year that the Titans will being having African-Americans on their team, and needless to say this is met with much conflict. The team conflicts with each other, but in the end they are able to bond together and work as a team in order to succeed.

2. Cinderella Man

Cinderella Man, starring Russell Crowe and Renée Zellweger, is the story of boxer James J. Braddock, a boxer who has seen better days, but somehow manages to overcome all of his setbacks during the Great Depression and become the champion. This is the best boxing movie I have ever seen.

1. Hoosiers

Hoosiers stars Gene Hackman as coach Norman Dale, a basketball coach of small Indiana high school team. It is a film of redemption and loosely based on a true story. This unlikely small team manages to become contenders for the state championship and win the championship too. This is actually my favorite movie of all time. I like this more than the Godfather. When I see this movie playing on TV, I always have to finish it. To this day I have seen it at least 25 times, and I still get excited during certain parts of this movie.
