5 Bible Themed Board Games for a Board Game Party

It might not be as hip today as video games but I still enjoy a good board game when I get together with my friends. The one group of friends I had that seemed to enjoy board games the most were my church friends. Normally we played regular board games but there are many Bible themed board games if you really want to make things interesting. Most of these board games are just like the classic board games but with Bible trivia or characters.

Bible Pictionary
There was once a Bible Pictionary board game but it seems to be out of print now. Fortunately this Bible-themed game is easy enough to make. Simply find a chalkboard or large tablet big enough for all the players to see. Come up with a bunch of items, topics, characters or stories from the Bible, write them down and put them in a box. Then have each contestant draw from the box to see what they have to draw.

Bible Guesstures
Bible Guesstures is similar to charades except that a player has four cards that says what they have to act out. Each item must be acted out in a certain amount of time. In the regular version of Guesstures the items acted out are common items like a pig or an airplane. In the Bible version of Guesstures the players must act out items in the bible like a baptism or a cross.

Bible Jeopardy
Bible Jeopardy is a game that can be made ahead of time since a board isn't really necessary. Simply have one person come up with twelve topics and five questions for each topic. The first six topics will be for the first round and then questions in each category will be worth 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 points. Then the second six topics will be worth 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1,000 points in Double Jeopardy. Just like in regular Jeopardy the host of the game will read the answer and the contestants will guess the question.

Bible Scattergories
My personal favorite board game is Scattergories. In Scattergories each player has a list of topics on a card. One person rolls a die with the letters of the alphabet on it. Each player then has a certain amount of time to think of a word beginning with the selected letter that fits each topic. For example if the topic is "Name of a street" and the letter rolled is "S" then I could choose Sesame Street (that's double points). The Bible version is more difficult because the topics are more specific. The topics in Bible Scattergories are topics like "Places that Jesus walked" or "names of the Holy Spirit".

Bible Wheel of Fortune
A Bible-themed version of Wheel of Fortune is easy enough to make yourself. A chalkboard or some other board to draw on will be necessary. One person will draw a series of blanks on the board, one for each letter of the answer. Then tear up many pieces of paper and write point totals on them. Before each player's turn they select a piece of paper and that is how many points they get for each correct letter. To make this a Bible-themed Wheel of Fortune simply use Bible categories for the puzzle, such as "books of the bible" or if you really want to do something difficult then try entire bible verses.
