5 Bible Verses that Will Inspire You

Cheryl Williams
The Bible is a book that can help us through the difficulties we go through in life. Not only does it tell stories of what other people have gone through and the lessons they have learned along the way, the Bible is also a book of inspirational prose.

Here are 5 of my favorite inspirational Bible verses and the reasons why I hold them near and dear to my heart:

1 Corinthians 13: 4 - 6. This verse falls within what is often called the "love chapter" of the Bible. The entire chapter is devoted to the most telling description of true love there is. It describes the love that God has for us and the kind of love we should have for each other. This verse has gotten me through some very difficult times, especially in my spouse. When I do this, it always puts the situation in an entirely new perspective.

Romans 8:35. This verse describes how "nothing can separate us from the love of Christ"...even death itself. This verse has always given me hope. Even in the most dire of circumstances, it lets me know that the love of God is still with me and that I have nothing to fear.

Psalm 139: 13-16. This verse is the verse that finally convinced me that abortion is not in God's plan. It shows me that life begins at conception, for God "knit me together in my mother's womb". Think of the painstaking care that a person goes through in knitting a blanket for a baby. Would not God Himself go to even more care in knitting a human being together? Is it my job to destroy what God went to so much trouble to create?

John 3:16. This verse is the one that assures me of my salvation. It tells how God gave His only son so that I might have life if I only believe in Him.

John 6: 35. In this verse Jesus talks about being the "bread of life" and that whoever comes to him will never be hungry. This verse speaks of that spiritual hunger that is in all of us. Coming from a family that was filled with alcoholism and abuse, I felt that deep hole inside of me. I always felt empty and love-starved. This verse was so meaningful to me because I knew that Jesus would fill that hole inside...and fill me with the love that I was so lacking. It gave me the courage to keep on trying.
