5 Celebrities Famous for Their Figures and Weight Woes

Our culture is obsessed with thinness and loos down on people who are overweight, even celebrities, who are in the public eye and a judged for every pound. . Celebrities who have been open with their struggles share their stories and can make viewers with the same problems feel like they are not alone. Some celebrities who are often in the news because of their figures include Oprah Winfrey, Kirstie Alley, Valerie Bertinelli, Marie Osmond and the late Anna Nicole Smith.

Talk show queen and media personality Oprah Winfrey has battled her weight for at least as long as she has been famous. When Winfrey lost weight on a liquid diet she famously pulled a wagon load of fat out onto the stage of The Oprah Winfrey Show, giving a visual picture of how much fat she had lost. Since then Oprah has gained and lost and regained the weight. In one of her shows last year Oprah stated that she could not believe that she was still talking about her weight after all these years. The story of Oprah shows just how hard it is to keep weight off for some people. The talk show titan has ever resource available as far as medical experts, nutrition experts and physical fitness experts, but she still struggles with her weight

Kirstie Alley has openly battled 75 pounds, which she gained, lost, and gained back. Alley famously lost weight as a Jenny Craig spokesperson and victoriously appeared on Oprah Winfrey in a swimming suit. Alas, Alley regained the weight and became the butt of media jabs. Kristie Alley is premiering a weight loss realty show, Kirstie Alley's Big Life. The point of the show is to lose the weight and keep it off, while the cameras record every step of the way. Kirstie Alley's Big Life premieres on A&E Network on March 21, 2010.

Valerie Bertinelli started as the Jenny Craig spokesperson shortly before Kristie Alley left. Bertinelli lost 40 pounds and celebrated her 49th birthday by being photographed in amazing shape in her bikini. Bertinelli, who continues to be the Jenny Craig celebrity spokesperson, has maintained her weight loss and has recently released an exercise DVD.

Marie Osmond lost 50 pounds on the Nutrisytem program and is the celebrity spokesperson for the weight loss program. In the advertisements and on the Nutrisystem website, Osmond talks about being out of shape and feeling unhappy about herself. Now that the singer has lost 50 pounds she claims that she feels healthy and that her family is proud of her.

The late Anna Nicole Smith was famous for her shapely figure and her outrageous behavior. When the former Playboy Playmate turned chunky she turned to Trimspa diet pills, lost about 70 pounds., and looked smoking hot. After she lost the weight, Anna Nicole Smith got pregnant and said on her reality TV show that she was very happy. Tragically, Smith's son Daniel died while visiting his mother and new sister in the hospital in the Bahamas. Smith herself died a few months later and the controversy surrounding her life and death made her one of the most famous celebrity deaths in recent history.

    There are probably 5 million of them.... like a plague on the famous. Too thin = eating disorder = early illness, suffering and death.
