It would be fantastic if we could vacation like the celebrities do, but for those of us who are not millionaires, we probably couldn't afford to. We can, however, go to the same places the celebrities go, just on a tighter budget.
1) Martha's Vineyard
This is a beautiful part of the East Coast, and it is affordable to those of us who are not famous or rich. Of course, we may not be able to stay where the celeb's do, but maybe when we go, we can catch a glimpse. Sometimes considered the Hollywood of the East, this beautiful, family friendly location is a summer hot spot for many celebrities. With top notch restaurants (and seafood) and beautiful beaches; this is a fabulous travel destination.
Celebrities who call this a fave are Oprah Winfrey and Paul McCartney (who owns a house there.)
2) Necker Island, British Virgin Isles
This island near Virgin Gorda is pretty exclusive, so you better save your pennies for a very long time. The island is owned by Richard Branson, the guy who owns Virgin Atlantic. The resort itself only has room for 28 guests at a time. Even though this is a mainly private island, there are beaches that are open to the public. However, when a celebrity or two are visiting, sometimes security can make it difficult for the public to use the space. You can, however, book your wedding on Necker Island if you have the funds.
Celebrities who love this island: Oprah Winfrey (yea, she can afford a lot of favorites), Steven Spielberg and Mariah Carey.
3) Maui, Hawaii
Maui is a great part of Hawaii. It's more private than the bigger islands and is known for fantastic surfing, great reefs to snorkel through and whale watching. Since it is not an international destination, and not too crazy expensive, celeb's go here for its ease and beauty.
Celeb's who favor Maui are, you guessed it, Oprah Winfrey again, Denise Richards and Britney Spears.
4) Cabo San Lucas
Cabo, as the elite like to say, is a fantastic get away because you feel like you are far way from your home, but it is only a two hour flight from Los Angeles. With plenty to do like scuba diving, sun bathing, boating and more during the day, and plenty of bars and restaurants to go to at night; this is a great vacation for the non-celebrity as well. Deals can always be found.
Celebrities who frequent this location are friends, and "Friends," Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox.
5) Saint Barthelemy Island
A lovely, tropical isle in the French West Indies, St. Barts, as it is usually called, is a great destination for those celeb's who want to travel to Europe but are in a hurry. St. Barts only has about 8500 people living on it, and sports high end shopping, hotels and restaurants. Not to say a commoner like me can't visit the place, but it is not cheap. A big part of the appeal of the island is for the sailing and the busy night life.
Celeb's who fancy this island are David Letterman, Derek Jeter, and once again, Paul McCartney.

Post a CommentI have heard about the Virgin Isles.
nice job
Have been to Maui but not the others
well written - thank you
Great choices. I would love to visit # 1.
I have been to #s 1,3 and 4... and I am not even a pseudo-celebrity! (Nor have I ever seen one that I recognize in any of those places.) I did run into George Lucas in a cafe in San Anselmo, CA last Sunday!
Nice work, Julie.
