Myth: Feeding bread to ducks and other birds like geese is okay.

Fact: Bread is bad for all birds there is no nutritional value. Severe health problems, including a debilitating condition called " angel wing " can be caused by feeding them bread. Also ducklings can fail to learn to find food on their own.

Myth: Touching baby birds will cause their mother to abandon them.

Fact: Birds have a very limited sense of smell, and are very bonded to their chicks, they will not abandon them for a human placing a chick back in a nest if it has fallen ,and is not well feathered learning to fly. Just watch ,the parents will return.

Myth: If you see a fawn alone it must be orphaned.

Fact: Fawns are often alone because the mother will "park" her babies somewhere and visit a few times a day. This helps to put off predators.

Myth: If you see a raccoon during the day he must be rabid.

Fact: Raccoons will appear whenever food is around, however they are usually nocturnal. If you see the animal acting sick or disoriented, such as walking in circles, or staggering also being seen in daytime contact an animal control officer.

Myth: Bats can get tangled in your hair if they fly near you.

Fact: Bats get around using a very complex sonar like system called echolocation which allows them to "see" their world with precision. The misconception that they get in your hair is based on a bat's swooping flight patterns when trapped in a confined space, such as a attic. They swoop to stay airborne.
