5 Drawbacks of the Samsung Droid Charge Android Smartphone
The Worst Features of the Samsung Droid Charge
The Samsung Droid Charge is one of the most acclaimed Android smartphones of 2011 and is super-fast, has a great display, awesome entertainment features, and a stylish design, but it also packs a few poor features that you may not know about.
It's Huge
One of the first disappointing features that you are likely to notice about the Samsung Droid Charge Android smartphone is how huge and bulky it is. The Samsung Droid Charge sports the "Hulk-like" dimensions of 5.1" x 2.67" x 0.46" and weighs as much as 5.06 oz. This smartphone also has a wider screen than most modern smartphones and weighs as much as smartphones that sport physical QWERTY keyboards. If you're looking for a lightweight and sleek smartphone, the Samsung Droid Charge might not be the right choice for you.
Single Core Processing Power
Considering the acclaim and price of the Samsung Droid Charge, I expected a lot more on the hardware end '" and if nothing else, a dual core processor. Most of the Samsung Droid Charge's competitors have upgraded to more powerful dual core processors, while the Droid Charge only sports a paltry 1 GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor. 1GHz single core processors aren't considered obsolete yet, but will likely become obsolete during the lifespan of this smartphone.
Bloatware
Unnecessary and often unwanted preinstalled software can be a major annoyance to consumers that have preloaded software on their smartphone, and this is one of the major issues with the Droid Charge smartphone. Verizon is notorious for installing "bloatware" and the worst part about the bloatware installed on the Samsung Droid Charge, is that it's permanent and will forever take up screen real estate and internal memory that could be used on something else.
Poor RAM
In addition to having a less than ideal single core processor, the Samsung Droid Charge also has inferior RAM. This smartphone only boasts 500MB of RAM, while most modern smartphones have twice as much RAM and usually sport 1GB of RAM. The bundled RAM and single core processor of the Droid Charge makes for a slow smartphone when compared to most new phones.
Poor Reception
Smartphones are known to be do-it-all gadgets, but as a phone, smartphones should not only have great apps, nice touchscreen displays, fast web browsing and other great features '" but should first be a great phone. The notoriously poor reception of the Samsung Droid Charge, makes it less "phone" and more "smart".

Post a CommentAgree with your comments so far. I have another annoying glitch; every couple of days the microphone mysteriously shuts off. You can hear them, they can't hear you. Requires power-down, Restart of system. I especially don't like the bloatware you mention, and a hyper-sensitive "too-predictive" typing mode that locks in it's own words.....
