When you are a mom, it can be very difficult to find the time or the energy to exercise when you have kids. Between coordinating a never ending schedule of doctors appointments and school activities as well as taking care of other household responsibilities there always seems to be something that needs out attention and takes priority over getting in shape.

However, if we want to be able to enjoy our children and live a long and healthy life then it is very important to make exercise a regular part of our routine and schedule. Fortunately, there are many things moms can do with their kids to help not only get in shape but also have a fun time together too.

5 Exercises for Moms to Lose Weight

1. Stroller Fitness: Stroller Fitness is one of the biggest trends amongst moms and dads with new babies and toddlers. Jogging Strollers are specially designed strollers to make it safe and easy for parents to jog while pushing their little ones at the same time. Not only does it help you enjoy all of the benefits of jogging, but the stroller adds additional resistance for helping tone arms as well. Check near you - there may even be stroller fitness classes that incorporate walking with other aerobic activities and your child.

2. Swimming: Swimming is a great exercise for losing weight that can be done with kids as well. If you have older kids, you can race them endlessly from one side of the pool. You can also do water aerobics with younger kids by doing your exercises while holding them. Many swimming pools offer parent and child swimming fitness classes, so if it is something that sounds like fun to you it may be worth trying!

3. Dance Aerobics: There are many dance aerobic workout videos available and younger kids will love doing the dance moves with you. You can also put on your favorite music and work up a sweat dancing with them.

4. Ride a Bike: Younger kids may also like riding along with you in a carriage that attaches to your bicycle - and older kids will love if they can ride along side with you. Just be sure you all have helmets and do not ride your bicycles down any roads with traffic and follow all other bicycle safety guidelines.

5. Join a Fitness Class for Moms: Many hospitals as well as independent organizations offer parent and child fitness classes where you can get a workout that incorporates your baby or toddler. Not only will you get a good workout, but it's also a great way to meet other parents and make new friends.

Getting exercise doesn't mean you have to hire a baby sitter or sacrifice time spent with your kids. If you do any of these activities with your children not only will you be working towards a healthier you, but you'll be able to get your kids started in a healthy lifestyle as well.
