5 Easy Paper Easter Crafts for Kids

How to Make Some Fun Art for Easter

M.S. Beltran
Kids love crafts and holidays, and the two go together so well. These are great Easter activities for kids in school, religious education classes, or just at home for fun.

"Stained-Glass" Easter Eggs

You Will Need:

Vellum in assorted colors

Pencil

Scissors

Clear-drying craft glue

Paper punches or decorative edge scissors (optional)

Draw an egg shape on vellum, or use a template if you prefer. This craft looks best if you start with lighter colors as the background and add darker colors as decoration.

Cut out the vellum egg.

Take some vellum in different colors. Cut out designs to put on your egg. This can be stripes or wavy lines cut with decorative edge scissors, die cuts from paper punches, or any little shapes you feel like making and cutting out.

Use clear-drying craft glue to glue the shapes to the vellum egg. Allow the glue to dry. If you like, you can paper punch some shapes out of the egg as well.

Trim around the egg with a scissor if any of the decorations are overhanging the edge.

Shining Cross

You Will Need:

White typing or cardstock paper

White crayon

Watercolor paints

Paint brushes

Paper towels

Scrap cardboard

Scissor

Pencil

Trace the shape of a cross onto a piece of Thin scrap cardboard. It can be a simple cross shape, or you can print out a shape from the internet and use it as a template if you like. Cut it out of the scrap cardboard to create a template.

Place the cardboard over the white paper or cardstock. Trace the cross onto it using the white crayon. Remove the cardboard. If you wish, you can write words with the white crayon across the top or the bottom, such as, "He is risen," or, "Happy Easter!"

Dip your paintbrush into some water and then into the paints, Rub it around to get the color wet and creamy. Dab it onto the paper towel to remove excess moisture.

Paint watercolor streaks over the white paper. Where ever you wrote or drew with the white crayon, it will resist the water color paint. You can paint streaks of light or a colorful sunset or rainbow, and a white cross figure will shine through.

Allow the paintings to dry.

Easter Tulip Boquet

You will need:

Paper egg carton

Scissors

Poster paints

Paint brushes

Green construction paper

Green pipe cleaners

Ribbon

Take your paper egg carton. Cut out the egg holder cups. Cut around the top of the cup in a zig-zag shape.

Paint the cups with poster paint, inside and out. Allow them to dry.

Punch a hole in the bottom of each cup. Thread a green pipe cleaner through it. Bend the pipe cleaner to hold the egg cup in place.

Draw leaf shapes onto green construction paper. Cut them out. Glue them or tape them the pipe cleaner by folding the edge over just a little bit.

Put all the pipe cleaner stems together and tie in the center with a ribbon. Display in a vase or give it to someone for Easter.

Easter Lamb Craft

You Will Need:

Construction paper

Cotton balls

Pencil

Scissors

Glue

You can use white construction paper, but black or a spring color will offer better contrast. Let the child spread his hand on the paper. Trace around the hand with a pencil.

Cut out the hand shape. Turn it so the fingers are down. This will be your "lamb." The thumb will be the head of the lamb. Draw a face on it.

Glue cotton balls all over the hand, except for the tips of the fingers and the thumb.

Easter Bunny Hand Puppet

You Will Need:

Paper lunch bag

Scrap papers

Scissor

Glue

Take a paper lunch bag while it is flattened and lay it so the bag's opening is facing you. The bottom of the bag should be facing upward.

Decorate the part that would be the bottom of the bag with the Easter Bunny's face. You can draw it on, or you can cut out pieces of paper bits and glue them on as the ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and don't forget buck teeth.

Glue some cotton balls on the bunny's cheeks to make him fuzzy looking. Flip it over and glue a cotton ball on his backside to be a tail.

Glue buttons or strips of paper on the front of the bunny for his vest.

Glue long paper strips to the sides for arms. Glue cotton balls to the tips of his arms for fuzzy paws.

When all the glue is dry, put your hand inside the opening of the bag and use it on your hand like a hand puppet.
