When my children were young, they found seashell crafts to be the most fulfilling and fun when they would collect the shells at the beach themselves while we were on vacation. We would sometimes make the seashell crafts while we were on vacation or sometimes we would bring the shells home and save them for future use.
Part of the fun for my kids when they made seashell crafts is they had something they could look at it and think of the wonderful vacation our family took. My excitement was seeing the joy my children found in crafting with seashells and also that a minimal amount of money was spent on the seashell crafts.
Here you will find 5 easy seashell crafts for kids, kids of all ages can make seashell crafts and even young kids can work with shells along with the help of an adult.
Easy Seashell Craft for Kids #1: Picture Frame
Purchase a low cost and simple frame at a discount store, a frame that is flat and does not have rounded edges works the best. Use white glue or a hot glue gun with adult help and carefully glue seashells and the picture frame making sure to touch the edges of the shells together. When frame is completely covered, layer additional seashells on any areas where the frame is still visible, the layered look gives an interesting texture to the frame. Place a picture of the vacation spot where the seashells were picked up in the picture frame, the picture frame seashell craft makes a nice memento of the vacation.
Easy Seashell Craft for Kids #2: Storage Box
I have found one of the easiest and fun seashell crafts for kids is the storage box. Many of the larger craft stores sell small little wooden boxes that could used to store jewelry, trinkets, or any number of items. Kids love the little boxes because they can put their small items in the boxes and it can be their own little storage place. Kids can glue seashells on the storage box to make a pattern, planned design or random design.
Easy Seashell Craft for Kids #3: Candle Holder
The plain clay pots work best for this seashell craft project, glue shells onto the outside of the clay pot and allow time to dry. Place a candle inside the clay pot and it becomes a very easy seashell craft candle holder.
Easy Seashell Craft for Kids #4: Ocean in a Jar
A mason jar works great for this easy seashell craft or a baby jar also works great as a smaller version. Simply fill the jar a quarter of the way with sand and then add a few seashells, place the lid on the jar and tie twine or ribbon around the lid to give a whimsical effect.
Easy Seashell Craft for Kids #5: Seashell Bugs
This seashell craft is super easy for kids and so much fun, choose a medium size shell and 4 smaller seashells which will be used as feet. Glue the 4 smaller seashells to the bottom of the medium seashell and add wiggly eyes to the medium size shell. Making a family of seashell bugs is even more fun!
These seashell crafts for kids are easy and low-cost, making a beach craft has never been so much fun!
