Looking and Feeling Your Best is Not that Difficult

We all want to burn calories, get in shape, look good and feel good! There are quite a few ways to achieve this. Whether you need to lose weight or are just looking to get in shape, below are some great tips on various forms of exercise that will help you to look and feel your best.

Walking

Walking is one of the easiest ways to burn calories. And if you haven't been exercising for a while, walking can ease you back into a more active lifestyle. Walk around your neighborhood every day; before work, after work, when the kids are in school, etc. It doesn't matter when, just do it. When parking for work, stores, school, etc., instead of parking close, park farther away and walk. Aside from burning calories and helping to get in shape, walking lowers the risk of heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure.

Hiking

Hiking burns more calories than walking for the simple reason that you are going up and down hills and over uneven terrain. And you get to enjoy nature and may not even realize what a good cardiovascular workout you're getting.

Dancing

Dancing is a fun way to burn calories and lose weight because it's done to music. A beat just makes a body want to move. You can dance at a nightclub. Also, many health clubs now offer dance classes to get in shape. There's a new one called Zumba that is a big craze in many clubs. And trust me, Zumba works your entire body. When you're cleaning your house or making dinner, listen to upbeat music on your iPod. Your feet will just start to move.

Biking

You can ride a stationary bike at a gym or ride a real bike to get a great workout. Even at the gym there are various types of stationary bikes for you to choose from. And they can all be adjusted to the level of difficulty desired. Or hop onto your bike and take a ride around a neighborhood or on paved trails if you have any in your area. Biking is a wonderful way to get in shape.

Climbing

Climbing doesn't mean climbing a mountain, although that would certainly burn a lot of calories! Whenever presented with the choice of elevator or stairs, take the stairs. Rather than push a button and ride, choose to exercise! If you have stairs in your home, make a few extra trips up and down them each day.

So as you can see, exercising to burn calories does not have to be a traumatic experience. And a funny thing happens when you start to get in shape, you feel better and have more energy!
