These five desserts are traditional at Easter. Colorful and full of flavor, you are sure to find a favorite. It doesn't matter if you follow one of the links to a recipe and create your own Easter treat or if you purchase them at your favorite bakery. These treats are sure to please.

Lemon Meringue Pie

This yummy, light pie is like a ray of sunshine on your plate! Very few people can resist the sweet-tart filling topped with a layer of fluffy, sweet meringue. Recipes for this pie abound on the Internet and are easy to find in most any cookbook. Too busy to bake? Purchase a prepared pie shell, fill it with a can of lemon pie filling then top it with whipped topping and garnish with fresh sliced strawberries.

Carrot Cake

The Easter Bunny won't bring this cake to your house, but you can find one in any bakery this time of the year - or make your own. This rich, moist cake is packed with carrots, nuts, coconut and raisins and is usually topped with the most creamy cream cheese frosting. This cake is a favorite of many year round but is sought out for Easter dessert.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

This cake adds both color and flavor to your dessert. The golden pineapple rings really stand out in contrast to the bright red cherry in the middle of each ring all surrounded by a golden brown syrup and sitting on top of a light, airy layer of cake. Make one large cake to share or smaller individual cakes to enjoy one at a time.

Easter Cupcakes

You are never too old for an Easter basket but you might like yours to be a cupcake. Topping each cupcake with green frosting and a tinted coconut nest filled with jellybeans creates a delicious East basket when you add a licorice string handle. These little cupcakes are an Easter basket treat that anyone of any age would enjoy.

Coconut Cake

White creamy frosting covered with sweet, flaky coconut looks so soft and sweet. The appearance of this cake only hints of the sweet coconut cake within. This cake seems to melt in your mouth. This is the best time of the year to find coconut cakes at the bakery. Or you may decide to bake your own coconut cake. The rewards are delicious and the complements boundless whether you bake or buy.

I never thought of lemon meringue pie as an Easter dessert. :) These all sound delicious. Sometimes my grandparents anniversary would be on Easter. One year my mother made a cake with a basket and bunny on it. She used green tinted coconut on the cake for grass. It's been over 30 years and I still remember it.
