5 of My Favorite Biographical Movies

Jennifer Wright
Biographical movies are my favorite movies to watch. Even if they are merely based on a true story, I am fascinated with real life events and people. Below are a few of the biographical movies I found most interesting lately. Of course, my list would go on and on, so it had to be narrowed down to just a few.

"The Blind Side." "The Blind Side" stars Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Kathy Bates, Quinton Aaron, and Jae Head. The Blind Side is a biographical movie based on the true story of Michael Oher. A teenage boy from the streets of Memphis becomes homeless and is taken in by a wealthy family. Through many struggles in school and in life, Michael Oher eventually finds himself playing as a left tackle in the NFL. This is a great biographical movie that the whole family can enjoy.

"Cinderella Man." 'Cinderella Man" stars Russell Crowe and Renee Zelwiger in the amazing biographical story of how the boxer James Braddock made his incredible comeback. Cinderella Man takes place in the late 1920's and Braddock's once flourishing career takes a terrible turn when he sustains a serious hand injury and the Great Depression begins to take its course. This is an incredibly inspiring biographical movie about defying all odds.

"Walk the Line." "Walk the Line" stars Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter. "Walk the line" was released in November of 2005. This excellent biographical movie follows Johnny Cash through the ups and downs of his entire life.

"La Bamba." "La Bamba" stars Lou Diamond Phillips as Ritchie Valens. "La Bamba" is a biographical movie about the life of Ritchie Valens. Before Ritchie Valens was a famous rock star, he was a migrant worker with the name of Ricardo Valenzuela. Of course Ritchie's family supports him, but fame is never what you think it will turn out to be.

"Erin Brockovich." "Erin Brockovich" stars Juila Roberts as this strong willed, single mother of three who took on the Pacific Energy and Gas Company and won one of the largest settlements ever paid. This biographical story is funny and touching but, Erin Brockovich had quite the mouth on her, so this movie is not kid friendly.

If you haven't seen any of these movies, you should run out and watch them right away. All of them are very interesting and put a little more insight into some of the famous people we know of.
