Try These Quick Tips to Look and Feel Better

First Tip: Protect Your Eyes During a Home Facial

One Product I use is the 3 step Pro Activ beauty regimen. The biggest problem I have experienced since I started using the system last fall is extreme dryness and irritation of the delicate skin around my eyes. The easiest way to avoid this, because it's really great otherwise for my face, is to put a layer of Vaseline or petroleum jelly in a complete circle around each eye, including the brows, before the ex-foliating/cleansing step. This may also help right around the outside of the lips if you are feeling winter dryness there. I have also used the facial cleanser just on the area from cheekbone and temple to chin because even during the warm water rinse I could feel the chemicals irritating my eyes when I was trying to rinse the product from my forehead. Despite this extra work, I have found that using the astringent in step two all over my face and the moisturizer all over my face in step three along with the cleanser just on the bottom two-thirds of the face is a great solution for me. There is no better facial cleansing product in my opinion. I have also used Ivory soap , Witch Hazel and Johnson's baby lotion in the past and those 3 steps work too. The Clinique three step series is also good but only available in department stores. It best addresses the dry and/or medium and/or oily skin challenge many women face by offering a cookie cutter approach (one from each column so to speak) for the cleanser/toner/moisturizer system.

2nd Tip:Raw Sugar and Olive Oil Scrub

You can mix a half cup of olive oil with a quarter cup of raw granulated sugar and keep it in a tightly sealed jar. This is the best hand moisturizer I have ever read about. Just rub it between your hands for 30 seconds and rinse. Then wash with a gentle hand soap and pat dry. I'm guessing it works on feet as well. It's much too harsh for the face and body in my opinion. Good for elbows and knees though.

3rd Tip: Brush Your Teeth With Baking Soda Once A Week.

Just dip a damp brush into a small pile of baking soda, say a teaspoonful, and brush as you normally would. You may also follow this with a quick regular tooth paste brushing. This whitens and brightens the teeth between professional cleanings and fortifies and deodorizes the gums which are really just skin. Don't do this more than once a week because baking soda is abrasive to the vital tooth enamel that coats your teeth.

4th tip: Wash Your Hair With Warm Water. Rinse Your Hair With Cool Water.

The pores on your scalp will open slightly during the two or three times you rinse lather and repeat. After that, your conditioner, which need only stay on 2 to 3 minutes, will seep into your scalp and condition the hair. When you rinse out the conditioner you must use progressively cooler water to close the pores on your head and protect the growing hair in the shaft just beneath the surface of your scalp. This helps prevent hair weakness and breakage once the hair grows beyond the follicle into the mass that's actually seen on your lovely head. Also use a wide tooth comb and don't brush your hair while washing it. That stretches the hair and makes it weak. Once the hair is dry you can brush it again and style it with heat if you must. Try a wet set with rollers, if you can, to style your hair.

5th tip: Ear Plugs for Beauty Sleep:

A pretty face is a well rested face. This nation is notoriously sleep deprived and small foam earplugs available at any drug store for 5 dollars per 6 or 7 pair are very conducive to sleep. They help you fall asleep faster and sleep through the night with fewer disturbances. Even 15-20 minutes of extra sleep a day will change your life tremendously, bring down your sleep deficit, and help you feel and look much much better.
