Frugal Valentine's Day Gift Idea #1: Write a Poem
I once asked my husband to write me a poem as a gift from him on Valentine's Day. What made this gift so special to me is knowing that he is nowhere near a poet. While his Valentine's Day poem wouldn't win him any awards it made me feel special and I still hold on to it and read it from time to time. While writing a Valentine's Day poem may not seem like such a big deal, it can be. Words from the heart often mean more than any gifts bought from a store.
Frugal Valentine's Day Gift Idea #2: Cook a Special Dinner
What is your sweetheart's favorite food? The answer to this question can make a great idea for a home cooked Valentine's Day dinner for that someone special. Other ideas for dinner could include the meal you ate on your first date, first anniversary, or even a favorite meal from childhood. Set your table for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner as well with pretty linens, a single rose in a vase, and candles. Your sweetheart is sure to appreciate this type of thoughtful gift on Valentine's Day.
Frugal Valentine's Day Gift Idea #3: Picnic under the Stars
A romantic picnic under the stars can be the perfect way to spend your Valentine's Day with your sweetheart. Of course it will need to be a clear night in order to enjoy this type of Valentine's Day gift with your sweetheart. If the weather it chilly bring along a thermos of hot coffee or cocoa to share with your special someone. A beach, the front seat of a car, or your backyard can be the perfect spots for your romantic Valentine's Day picnic under the stars. If your Valentine's Day is too cloudy to enjoy the stars you can still enjoy a romantic picnic with your loved one indoors. You can create the look of a starry sky on the ceiling in your home using glow in the dark stars, such as these, and have your romantic Valentine's Day picnic in your living room. If you are in need of a picnic basket, check out your local Goodwill or thrift store for a bargain basket. You can choose to go with a dessert only Valentine's Day picnic or a basket full of appetizers to keep your food costs low.
Frugal Valentine's Day Gift Idea #4: Movie Night at Home
You can often find movies for cheap by searching bargain bins at your local video rental store or retail store. You may be lucky to find a few romances included in the selection of DVD's or VHS tapes that would make a great Valentine's Day gift for your wife or girlfriend. Instead of just handing the movie over wrapped with a bow, put the movie in the appropriate player for a romantic movie night at home. Surprise your wife or girlfriend by having the gift movie waiting in the player, a box of movie chocolates or heart shaped box of Valentine's chocolates to enjoy with the movie, and a bucket of popped popcorn. You and your loved one can enjoy a romantic movie on Valentine's while enjoy some cuddle time on the couch together.
Frugal Valentine's Day Gift Idea #5: Full Body Massage
Masseuses can charge an incredible amount of money for a massage. I once encountered a masseuse who wanted to charge me $30/hour for a massage. Those on a tight budget may not be able to afford such luxuries as a professional massage but, can receive a free one at home. On Valentine's Day offer your special someone a free, full body massage courtesy of your own two hands. You can purchase special massage oils or lotions to use for your special Valentine's Day massage. If you are not good at giving massages use free resources online and in your library to learn how to give a good massage. If you're lucky your special Valentine's Day massage may lead to other romantic activities.
As you can see you don't have to spend a lot of money in order to give your special Valentine a romantic gift that he/she will love. All of these Valentine's Day gift ideas listed in this article are inexpensive and are sure to be appreciated by your sweetheart.

Post a CommentI totally agree with each and every one. Some of our best Valentines have been doing these.
Great ideas... I think it is the homemade things that mean the most...whether it be a poem they wrote their selves or a dinner they have prepared or something they have baked.
I really like these ideas!
I'd love to get a poem! Nice ideas.
