1 Make a budget. You should start off by making a budget of how much you have to spend. Then make out a list of all the people you feel you have to purchase presents for. Then you can figure out how much to spend on each person. Keep that list with you. Anytime you come up with an idea for a present write it down and see if you can find it in your budget. Or if you see something in the store write it down and keep watching to see if the price will drop.
2. Determine shopping period and frequency. Take a look at shopping list and segregate items into weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly period. Check if any alterations can be effected to reduce expenses. When you shop on a regular basis, you are able to purchase only sale items. You have to buy things not on sale to restock if you wait longer between shopping trips. You can prepare shopping schedule accordingly.
3. Use coupons. Always use coupons and use them in conjunction with what is on sale. Check sales ads and shop accordingly. Look for the stores or local supermarket that offer "double coupon" days, which means if you have a 25 cent coupon it is worth 50 cents, and shop with your coupons on those special days. Don't use coupons unless it's on something you already use. Otherwise it just makes you spend more money. Make a menu and grocery list and stick to it. This will increase your savings. You can also get coupons online or trade coupons with friends
4. Buying in bulk. When buying in bulk you do not buy everything in bulk. buy the items in large quantities that you use regularly, you will not only pay less for the item but also save time and money on traveling on the way. Never go shopping on an empty stomach. That's always one of the ways that you would tend to spend more money because your stomach is telling you that you want this and that. Before going to the check out, ask yourself do I really need this.
5 Join the membership to a wholesale club. If you use a credit card, use one that gives you points to redeem for things and pay it off each month so that the credit is always available for you to use. Just make sure to check expiration dates and be sure to bring coupons as they do take them.
