Sabrina Young
If you are like any new mother, you have received a barrage of baby and parenting magazines. Whether your family or friends signed you up for these kid-filled fun magazines or not, you can soon grow tired of the magazine pile slowing taking over your living room. Here are five fun and easy art activities you can do with old baby and parenting magazines.

Fun Art Magazine Activity 1: Cards from Baby
Don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars this year in birthday, holiday, anniversary, thank you, and just because cards? Simple. Save all of your baby magazines. Cut out the cute adorable images of babies, baby toys, baby binkies, baby etc., and save them in a folder. Get some pastel card stock paper from Office Depot or Target. Fold the paper in half or fourths to make a card. Using glue and scissors, begin making a cute baby collage on the front of each card. If you want, save the magazine letters or use scrapbook stickers for putting simple lines like "Happy Birthday" or "Baby Tommy Loves You" or "Thank You from Baby". On the inside write a sweet message from your little one in marker (or have them write it themselves). Tada - you just saved yourself $3.99 per card and got rid of a magazine.

Fun Art Magazine Activity 2: Baby Face Stick Puppets
Cut out the large faces of babies from your parenting magazines. Glue them to thin cardboard or thick cardstock. Cut around the edges of each baby's face. Glue the face to a large popsicle stick. Voila! Fun baby face stick puppets for your kids!

Fun Art Magazine Activity 3: Keepsake box
Save a dozen or so baby and parenting magazines. Get a small to medium-sized box. It can be made of wood, metal, cardboard, or even plastic. Carefully cut and glue pictures of adorable babies and baby items on the box in an adorably cute collage. Water down some school glue and brush the watered down glue over the collage after you finish cutting and pasting.

Fun Art Magazine Activity 4: Christmas Baby Ornaments
You can make paper mache Christmas balls, then decorate them with clippings of cute babies laughing and adorable baby items like ABC blocks or baby binkies. Poke the paper mache' Christmas ornaments with a metal hook or glue gun a colorful red or green loop to the top to hang from your Christmas tree or give these adorable baby Christmas ornaments to friends and family.

Fun Art Magazine Activity 5: Educational Book for Baby
Cut six to ten sheets of thick card stock paper in half. Line them up and hole punch several holes along one side. Loop and knot some colorful yarn to make the book. Cut out colorful pictures from the magazine. You may want to cut out pictures of toys, baby body parts, food, or even letters from the alphabet. Neatly cut each item out and glue stick each picture into your book being sure to check for pages sticking together. (If you do both sides of the paper, you may want to assemble the book after you glue). In marker write words like "ball" or "nose" for each picture. Your child will enjoy learning new words with you!
