5 Fun Exercises to Lose Weight

Jan S
If you have fun exercising then you are more inclined to continue exercising. In my humble opinion there are many more boring ways to exercise than there are fun ways.

The very top of my fun ways to exercise is to have Dance Revolution for your Playstation. Dancing to music using the game format is not only fun but you can encourage other family members to join in on it. When I am using it on my own I set it to the game timer setting on the game so I don't get carried away and lose track of time.

The next on my top 5 ways to have fun exercising is to use one of those huge exercise balls. The ball is the one you can inflate and sit on. I usually will put on a music video or tune into one of the many music video TV shows and bounce away while sitting on the ball. Twisting your hips and rolling back and forth on the ball in time with the music will get a sweat up in no time flat. You will be amazed how fast you can worn out by having fun with the ball.

If the weather is nice outdoors then my next choice is going for a bike ride. I will usually set aside at least 2 hours for my trip. I use to live in a city that was known for it's scenic bike trails so I took advantage of them. I like to have a stopping point somewhere along my trip so I can enjoy my trip. Just mindless peddling just for exercise is not my thing. Now I live in a rural hilly area so just "going around the block" takes about an hour. The scenery is fabulous and I sometimes encounter the occasional deer or pheasant on my trip.

Another fun way to lose weight is to revert back to childhood activities. Simple games like jumping rope or roller skating can keep you exercising. In fact jumping rope can be a fast way to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time. Here is a link to a story of how one woman went from a size 18 to a size 8 in 6 weeks. How to lose weight by jumping rope.

Of course just having someone else with you for whatever active exercise you are doing adds fun. Everything from power walking, hiking to swimming are all much more fun when you have a friend along.

So there you have my list. Fun with dancing, exercise balls, bicycling, jumping rope and just having a buddy along. Remember the more you have fun with exercise the more likely you are to keep it up.
