5 Great Date Ideas in Miami

Spend an Afternoon at a South Beach Cafe or a Night at Bayside. Here Are Five Great Date Ideas for Miami

Matthew Steed
If you're looking for somewhere to take that special someone in and around Miami, here are five of my favorite date ideas for the Miami area.

Spend the Afternoon on Lincoln Road

Miami Beach's Lincoln Road Mall is an outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment area that extends for the length of Miami Beach. You and your date can enjoy a sunny Florida day sitting at one of the many outdoor cafes or restaurants and watching the day go by.

If you're up for a movie, be sure to check out the new multi-story Regal South Beach Cinema 18. And for some great sushi, be sure to check out the always happening and hip Sushi Samba Dromo. (Click here to read my article about Sushi Samba Dromo)

Take in the Art at The Rubell Family Collection

Rubell Family Collection is one of the best museums you've never heard of. Located in a former Drug Enforcement Agency confiscated goods facility in the Design District, the museum houses modern and contemporary art. The collection was started by Don and Mera Rubell and when Don's brother, Steve Rubell, the owner of the infamous Studio 54, passed away, he left a large portion of his estate to to his brother. And since then the collection has grown into one of America's best collections of modern art.

Watch a Drive-in Movie

While one a common date spot across America, Drive-in theaters are all but gone from the American landscape. But if you're lucky enough to be living in South Florida, then be sure to catch a movie at one of the few drive-in theaters left. The Swap Shop Drive-in theater in Fort Lauderdale offers first run movies and it's only $6 per person.

Explore Miami's Waterfront at Bayside Marketplace

Bayside Marketplace is located near downtown on Biscayne Bay and features shops, restaurants, and special events. You and your loved one can window shop at the many stores in the multi-story outdoor destination or enjoy a meal overlooking Biscayne Bay.

And if you want to explore more of the bay, take a cruise one of the many boats at Bayside marina that offer tours of the bay and star's home on Star, Hibiscus, and Palm islands. Who knows, you might catch a glimpse of Rosie O'Donnell or Gloria Estefan!

Discover Little Havana

Spend an afternoon discovering Miami rich Cuban heritage in Little Havana. The area, just west of downtown, is alive with the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of Cuba. The people are welcoming and warm. While Little Havana is a feast for the eyes, it's a celebration for the taste buds. Stop in one of the cafes for a sandwich Cubano or another Cuban specialty dish. You're taste buds, and your date, will thank you!
