5 Great Eco-Friendly Baby Skin Care Items

Your Baby Can Be Clean and Earth Friendly!

Sarah Lipoff
As a new mom, I am always trying to find great baby products that are also natural and earth friendly. Sometimes I find things that really work and fit in with my green living lifestyle. Through some research and home testing, I found a couple great baby skin care products that do a great job and are good to the earth.

California Baby products were created by a mom and are an extremely eco-friendly company. They are a certified eco-friendly company, part of the Organic Trade Association, and a registered cruelty-free organization. Their products are made with natural ingredients such as lavender, calendula, and aloe vera. California Baby makes tons of products from sunscreen to aromatherapy items. I use their Super Sensitive Everyday Lotion ($11.50) on my baby when her skin seems a little dry and it leaves her skin hydrated without any greasy feeling.

Burt's Bees has a great line of baby products. Burt's Bees has been around since the 1980's creating natural products. They try to create as close to a 100 percent natural product and also use recyclable containers, and created the Natural Standard for Personal Care Products. They have a whole line of products dedicated to your baby's needs. I have a Baby Bee To-Go Kit (around $10) in my diaper bag, and it really comes in handy. These products have coconut in them, so if you know your child is allergic, they might not be for you. Burt's Bees uses only the mildest and purest forms of soap in their products helping to ensure your baby's skin stays soft and healthy.

Maclaren, mostly known for baby strollers, has a natural line of baby products that not only soothes your baby, but keeps it's skin hydrated and diaper rash free! They have an Embrace Starter Kit that has it all. I was given this set as a baby shower gift, and it was one of my favorites. Maclaren uses natural ingredients and organic essential oils to create uniquely scented products that are made for baby, but will find their way into your beauty routine. I use the Absorbing Dusting Powder for Baby not only on my baby, but also to dust onto her bed linens to give them a wonderful scent. The set can run you upwards of $50.00, but it is well worth it!

Another must have is Lansinoh Topical Treatment. Widely known for their breastfeeding products, Lansinoh Topical Treatment is essential to any breastfeeding mother, but this topical treatment does double duty as a great item for baby! Lansinoh uses medical grade lanolin without any preservatives of any kind. Lansinoh has been around for over 20 years and is dedicated to helping moms around the world. They do make a diaper rash treatment with zinc oxide. If you are looking for an alternative, try applying a small amount of Lansinoh Topical Treatment! I find it is a useful tool in the fight against diaper rash! You can find Lansinoh products at any drugstore for around $7.00.

Little Twig has a fun and colorful line of baby products that are reasonably priced and available for purchase online. They are very eco-friendly- even bottling their products in recyclable plastic! I have a set of their adorable cotton washcloths that are so soft and comfortable to use during bath time. You can buy 3 for around $13.00 and they sure make bath time fun! Along with other skin and bath items, they also create extra mild unscented options for those with sensitive skin. Little Twig offers discounts and incentives for recycling and reusing their bottles and also donates their time and also part of sales to charities.

Whatever products you choose, try to find ways to be earth friendly! If you start early finding ways to recycle and shop smart, it will help encourage your child to make the same choices!
