5 Great Inexpensive Christmas Cocktails

A List of Some Good but Inexpensive Christmas Cocktails

Anna Sanclement
With the Holidays coming up, there will undoubtedly be many parties on everyone's schedules. One of the main ingredients for Christmas bashes, of course, are the inevitable cocktails. Instead of relying on the old familiar mixes, try to shake things up with some original, but inexpensive Christmas cocktails that will keep the party festive. To keep things on budget use only 2 brand liquors, you can make a great variety of drinks without using more than two. Besides, it's better to use two good quality liquors than a bunch of different cheap ones and chance your guests leaving your party with bad headaches from cheap liquor. For our recipes we'll use vodka and peppermint schnapps. Next, get a bottle of ginger ale, another of club soda and a bottle of berry juice. And if you don't have any already get a small container of cocoa mix such as Ovaltine. All right, we are ready to start mixing!

We'll start with a Chocolate Snowman. Mix 1.5 oz. of vodka with 4 oz. club soda, throw them in a blender together with some crushed ice, a splash of berry juice and 2 tablespoons of Ovaltine. Make it into a 'slushie' consistency and serve in a tall glass with a white and red straw.

Then we can make a Candy Cane. Mix 2 oz. of vodka, 1 oz. peppermint schnapps and 3 oz. club soda then add a splash of the berry juice for color. Serve in a martini glass with a mini candy cane as a garnish.

Our next drink is a Gingerbread Man. Start with 3 oz. ginger ale, 2 oz. vodka, .25 oz peppermint schnapps (for a slight spike in taste only) and a splash of the berry juice. Serve in a highball glass with an optional miniature Christmas ornament.

Now we are going to make a Berry Merry Christmas Cake. Put 2 oz. of vodka, 2 oz. berry juice, 2 tablespoons Ovaltine, 2 oz. club soda and some ice in a shaker. Shake well and pour into a martini glass. Serve it with a couple of chocolate squares on the bottom of the glass.

Lastly, we have a Mistletoe Kiss Champagne. I created the other recipes, but this one I got on the internet at http://www.recipezaar.com/Mistletoe-Kiss-Chagne-196804, but instead of using the pear juice we'll use our berry juice. Although it doesn't call for either of our 2 liquors, I'm sure most of you will have a bottle or two of champagne around the house for the holidays that you can use for this mix... Okay, all we need is 1/2 cup chilled champagne and 1/2 cup berry juice, mix and serve in champagne flute with a mint spring for garnish.

And there they are, five different, original and inexpensive Christmas Cocktails that you can surprise your guests with and have fun preparing!
