Parties cost enough money as it is without the added cost of the invitations. Invitations are, of course, a must and if you're looking for the most economical way to buy invitations, you'll need a good plan.

There are some great ways to save you some money by getting creative with your Christmas party invitations. You might need a little elbow grease, but your wallet will thank you when you're done. The benefit of saving money on invitations usually means you put some customization into your work. The key to saving money is the "does it yourself" attitude.

Here are 5 great tips to creating the best Christmas party invitations for hardly any money:

1. Photos - If you've had Christmas parties in the past, and you have some great photos from that party, grab copies of the photos, grab some red or green construction paper to give the photo a backsplash and fill out the party invitation on the back of the construction paper. These are all things you probably have laying around your house which will help you with only having to purchase stamps.

2. Scrappy look - Scrapbooking is a great style that many people enjoy looking at. Go to your local craft store; purchase some Christmas sticker decorations, some red or green ribbon, and some card stock. Put it all together, have a little fun and fill out your party information. You can probably get all of these items for under $5.00.

3. Evite -The cheapest and easiest way to send out Christmas party invitations is through evite.com. You can post your own pictures, invite anyone who has an e-mail address (which is just about everyone now-a-days), fill out your information and click send. Your cost is nothing!

4. E-mail invitations - If you have paint or any type of print shop application on your computer, you can get real creative and make your own invitation and send it through the web. Again, the cost to you is nothing.

5. Print - If you have the computer abilities but aren't really into e-mailing invitations, then create your great personal invitation, add all of the details, and bring them down to a print shop to have printed. Most print shops will charge .20-.30 cents per page (put 2 invitations per page). Once you have them printed, slice them up, stuff them in the envelopes, and send them out.

Invitations don't have to be complicated this day and age. There are many different options, most of which can be done for close to free. Therefore having these great tips at your fingertips will make you feel more economically friendly this holiday season.
