Idalia Benavides
Are you a new college student? If you are then you better get ready for the Facebook craze that goes on during most of the first semester and perhaps throughout the entire year. Facebook is the place to be instead of MySpace, it is much more cleaner and you can bet that you will find all of your college friends on there. In order to help you out with your new Facebook addiction that is sure to come, I have compiled 5 tips that you should know; if you're interested then keep reading below.

- Use the Marketplace to get rid of your school books or to make some extra money selling things.
Facebook has become really popular these past few years and now they offer a place for its users to place ads selling or requesting things. If you sell stuff on Ebay, forget about it! With Facebook you can reach a lot of potential customers as well and there's no fees to leave your ads up. There's also nothing taken from you if you make a sale.

- Update your profile frequently to keep it up-to-date.
This is the tip that will help to have Facebook always in tact and to keep it fun and organized for you. Up date your information frequently! You can do this by hitting edit profile on the top of the Facebook homepage. Keep your courses update, work places, relationship status, and even all of your favorites. You can now also keep your friends list organized.

- Keep in touch with your friends by answering comments, leaving birthday wishes, or starting conversations.
The point of Facebook is to stay in touch with college friends and even high school, work, and local city friends, so do it. If you see that your friends birthday is coming up or that someone left you a comment, comment back. Use Facebook to the fullest and you'll see that it will be tons of fun for you and your friends.

- Add no more than 5 extra applications.
Applications on Facebook are getting insane! Now there's almost 3000 applications available to Facebook users. If you notice though, a lot of them are useless and sometimes when users add them they go unused. Try to not add more than 5 apps to your Facebook profile at a time. These can distract your viewers' eyes and therefore making them not want to come back.

- Check out your privacy settings.
The privacy settings on Facebook have probably been altered since you first joined. Facebook now allows it's users to customize what everyone else sees extremely good. There are so many options to go through and so many things to check and uncheck depending on what you want others to be able to see. Go through your Privacy settings if you are having trouble with people on Facebook or if you would just like to know what's available to the public from you.
