5 Half-Homemade Easter Gift Ideas

Anni Sofferet
Half-homemade Easter gift ideas are all about combining easy gift-making with a personalized look that doesn't cost a fortune. Each gift is decorative but also tasty, creating an unexpected presentation. Best of all, the gift are non-perishable, so you can give them to a friend a little before Easter, and she can decorate her home or office with your gift. Let's take a look at these 5 half-homemade Easter gift ideas.

#1. Chocolate Blooms and Garden Greens

To create this half-homemade Easter gift idea you'll need a small potted plant, a drinking glass, wide silk ribbon and floral wire (from a craft store) and small chocolate eggs. Place the plant in the glass and tie the ribbon around the outside of the glass. Next, stick the floral wire into the chocolate eggs, then insert them like flowers into the potted plant. If the eggs are heavy, twirl two or three floral wires together to form the egg flower stem.

#2. Bunnies in the Grass

This half-homemade Easter gift idea is a little more labor intensive because you'll be making the treat yourself, but it's worth it (trust me!). Here's a recipe from Martha Stewart for making adorable marshmallow bunnies. After making them, go to a pet store and buy two boxes of potted grass for cats. Stuff the grass into an extra-wide Easter mug, then scatter the bunnies between the blades.

#3. Luscious Egg Bouquet

This half-homemade Easter gift idea has a bigger ingredients list but the result is very special. You'll need a white egg, white egg cup holder, silk flowers, floral wire and florist's sponge known as an oasis (all found in craft stores). You'll also need Easter bear candy wrapped in foil. Begin by cracking the egg three-fourths from the bottom to remove the lid. Hollow the egg, wash it and glue some oasis sponge inside it. Next, pierce the silk flowers into the sponge to form a small bouquet in the eggshell vase. Use the florist wire to wrap around the Easter bear candy, then plant the bears amid the flowers.

#4. The Candle Challenge

This half-homemade Easter gift idea is perfect for adventure lovers. Begin with a thick, tall candle that resembles a tree or a cliff. Next use floral wire (found in craft stores) to wrap around Easter chick candy wrapped in foil. Cut the wire short and stab it into the candle, as if the chick is climbing. Continue mounting more and more chicks on your Easter challenge log.

#5. Twinkling Egg Tree

You'll need to find a beautiful tree candle holder for this half-homemade Easter gift idea, so be prepared that this will is a more pricey gift. Once you find the tree, hang colorful foil covered chocolate eggs on it. To hang the eggs, simply glue silk ribbons to the foil cover. Use a range of sizes for your eggs, and this edible egg tree will make a beautiful centerpiece anywhere.

Love those ideas. An Easter decoration (I just wrote an article about) that isn't too hard to make is miniature Easter hats out of styrofoam cups.
