5 New Holiday Classics: What a Holiday Treat

Great movies are a part of our culture. We love to go to movies especially in the summer and winter months. November and December are also a time for great holiday movie classics that can be enjoyed on television or via DVD. Watching holiday movies gets me in the holiday mood. Frosty and Rudolph will always be holiday movie classics;however, there are three new holiday movies that have become classics over the years. Therefore, here is a list of my 5 holiday movie classics.

1. Frosty The Snowman: A cheery snowman that comes to life via a a magic hat sceams holiday classic. This is because snow and fantasy are a essential part of the holiday season. In addition, Frosty the Snowman is a holiday movie classic because it celebrates the innocence of children and Frosty is a cute snowman.

2. Love Actually: Love Actually stars Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, and Colin Firth. This romantic comedy set five weeks before Christmas and tells the love stories of ten diffrent people whose lives are entertwined as the movie plays out. Love Actually is a new holiday movie classic because it stars Hugh Grant and puts a new spin on all types of love.

3. The Holiday: The Holiday stars Jude Law, Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, and Jack Black. This holiday movie classic takes place in Los Angeles, California and in England. The basic plot of The Holiday involves Iris, played by Winslett and Amanda, played by Diaz switching houses for Christmas and both find new romances on their journey. This romantic comedy is a new holiday classic movie because it touches on the universal subject on finding love unexpectly after a romantic setback.

4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: This is a holiday cartoon classic because the underdog becoming hero is a great holiday theme. People of all ages root for Rudolph to save Christmas by lighting the way for Santa's sleigh to deliver toys to children all over the world. This is a feel good holiday movie classic.

5. Eloise at Christmas Time: The new holiday classic movie stars Julie Andrews as Nanny and Sofia Vassileva as Eloise. This movie revolves around the marriage of Rachel Peabody and Brooks. However, Eloise knows that Rachel is in love with Bill, a childhood friend who works at the Plaza. She also knows that Brooks isn't as he seems; therefore, Eloise tries to rekindle Rachel's and Bill's romance. This is a new holiday movie classic because what is better than love and New York at Christmas time. In addition, Julie Andrews is wonderful as nanny and Sofia is adorable as Eloise.
