5 Hot Actresses Who Play Girl Geeks on Television

Sexy Women with Computers

Has television finally learned what many men have long known, the incredible hotness of the girl geek? Current television programming brings us a collection of talented and sexy actresses playing women who know their way around a keyboard.

Pauley Perrette leads our list of hot girl geeks. In some ways, she created the role as Abby Sciuto on the long time hit series NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service. Who can overlook the scene, played in the intro for every episode, where Perette is changing and has a large tattoo on her lower back. The Halloween show were she appeared as Marilyn Monroe is another memorable moment for Pauley Perrette fans.

Her sixteen year career began after Perrette received a Masters degree in Criminology. It is not an act for her as she bustles about the lab producing forensic miracles. Our favorite Goth geek girl is first on our list.

A smile and a giggle on a very serious show, Kirsten Vangsness plays database search wizard Penelope Garcia on Criminal Minds. Her unconventional dress and outlandish style cannot hide her mad skills with a computer search.

Her career was just beginning when she was cast as Garcia. Since then, she had put together a character that any law enforcement agency would kill to have on staff, but would never allow out in public. Her character's most endearing quality, the utter love she has for her teammates.

Our next actress's girl geek character has already died. It is too bad because Julie McNiven's character of Ginn on SGU Stargate Universe was not only a girl geek, she was Eli's lover. The storyline proved that the overweight nerd can get a hot girl, giving hope to millions of young men.

McNiven's career began at age 17. She has appeared in several series, such as Mad Men. She has also been Lindsay Lohan's stand-in twice without having been arrested or in rehab.

Allison Scagliotti has one of the larger resumes on this list despite being the youngest actress. She turned twenty in September 2010 and has been working for eight years. As Claudia Donovan in Warehouse 13 she brings a solid counterpoint of hope, joy and blind optimism to her dour boss's worldly wise experience.

Scagliotti was a Nickelodeon child star and also has acting credits from ER , CSI and Smallville .

The mystery woman on our list is our final hot girl geek, Renée Felice Smith, with little biographical information available. Her role as Nell Jones on NCIS: Los Angeles is her first large role. She appears as an analyst in the amazing NCIS computer lab. Is she fellow geek Eric Beale's sidekick, or perhaps his love interest? Might we see some sparks fly if Abby Sciuto makes another trip to L.A. to see Eric?

If any of our girl geeks inspire hardware envy, it is Smith. The computer setup, touch screen operation and access to databases and street cameras give her the edge in bits and bytes. The role is Smith's to grow, but she has done well thus far.

Girl geeks, keyboards and keystrokes. The new hotness on television is the girl geek and these are five of the best.
