When Target announced last November that they will feature a limited-edition spring 2012 collection from designer Jason Wu, I squealed with glee. Both Target and Wu made us wait until January to get a glimpse at the 53-piece collection that will hit Target stores on February 5, 2012. I must say that I like what I see. However, with any collection there are a few pieces that stand out as hot ticket items. Here are my top five picks from the Jason Wu Spring 2012 Collection for Target.
Jason Wu Spring 2012 Limited-Edition Collection
This latest designer limited-edition collection for Target takes on the late-1950s to mid-1960s trend seen on the spring runways. This isn't just any retro collection, though. Jason Wu took on an American in Paris influence for Target shoppers with a unique muse, a black cat named Milu. The limited-edition collection of apparel, accessories and handbags run from February 5, 2012 through March 6, 2012 with each item costing under $60.00.
Five Hot Picks from Jason Wu for Target
- Black Trench Coat with White Trim, $54.99: features soft military details that flare out from the waist. The coat will also be available in navy. This is a fun deviation from the typical spring trench with the white contrasting trim. In either navy or black, pair this coat with a bright flared dress like Material Girl Sleeveless Dress with Sheer, Pleated Asymmetrical Hem in Poppy Red for $32.00 at Macy's.
- Sleeveless Top with Dotted Sheer Panel in Navy Floral, $26.99: In the Jason Wu for Target Look Book, this top is paired with a pleated skirt in a similar navy floral pattern. However, I think this top would look great with a pair of navy capris or cropped pants. A good choice are the Pleated Cropped Trouser Pants in Blue Galaxy for $59.95 at GAP.
- Poplin Dress in Navy, $39.99: I love this sleeveless flared dress with its boat neck and red/white stripes at the skirt hem. It almost has a Dior New Look feel to it with the cinched waist and flared skirt. Pair this demure dress with a bright and bold colored shoe like the Luci Cross Strap Wedge in Fuchsia by Fioni for $27.99 at Payless.
- (Milu)Cat Tote in Cream, $39.99 and Cat Scarf, $19.99: I have a black palazzo pant set that both of these would look great with. However, these would also look great with a maxi dress. Plus-sizes will look casual and chic wearing the Denim Halter Maxi Dress for $74.00 at Avenue paired with these two Milu accessories.
These are my five hot picks from the Jason Wu for Target Limited-Edition Spring 2012 Collection. Take a gander at the look book and let us know what items you'd purchase and how you plan on wearing them. Don't forget this is a limited-edition collection that begins February 5, 2012 and runs through March 6, 2012. So you will need to act fast and snatch these items up before they are gone!
