1. Candles can make a room full of holiday cheer. Everyone has candles sitting around their home. Whether they are tall candles, or short candles, they can still be used to decorate your home for the holidays. All you will need is some simple school glue, and glitter that you have bought from the dollar store. Rub the glue all over the candles, working with one side at a time. Sprinkle the glitter all over the candle and allow each side to dry. Once dry, place wherever you want them to be for a festive, holiday look.
2. Clippings from your Christmas tree or outside tree. No one truly realizes how festive a few clippings off of a tree can be. Depending on what kind of trees you have outside, the beauty of it brings a sense of holiday right a way. Clip small branches with more leaves then branch. Place inside of a wrapped linen napkin, and place all around the table where the chairs are located. You can even place tree clippings inside of a vase to make a beautiful, holiday centerpiece.
3. Left over ribbons & wrapping paper. Most people always have left over ribbons and wrapping paper from the year before. Instead of throwing it away, or letting it sit there for the next 10 years, get it out and start to use it. Find a few small boxes in your house, 2 liter bottles or even empty cans. Wrap each item as if they were Christmas gifts, wrap the left over ribbons or bows around them and place all around the house. Everyone will wonder if their really gifts, or just decorations. No need to tell though, it's your secret.
4. Blankets and pillow make beautiful holiday decorations. If you have extra blankets and pillows that you are not using, Why not use them for your holiday decorations. All you will need are some bows or ribbons, even some tree clippings would make them festive and beautiful. Once you have the blanket or pillow you want to use, place the bows, ribbons or tree clippings at the top corner of the item. Lay the blanket over the couch or chair, that way when people see it, all they see is the corner that is decorated.
5. Applesauce and cinnamon ornaments. A no bake, simple recipe that will not only bring holiday decor to your home, it will also bring holiday scent as well. Mix 1 cup of applesauce to one cup of cinnamon. Now add one tablespoon of children's school glue. Mix well until you have a dough like substance. Roll out as you would cookie dough, and start making shapes with cookie cutters. Once they are dry, add ribbon, buttons, or glitter. Place all around the house on plates, mantles, you can even make them as tree ornaments. Give the house a definite sense of Christmas.
