5 Impressive Miniature Cities

Bridget Ilene Delaney
Sitcoms love to have a young child have to make a model of the Eiffel Tower out of Popsicle sticks or toothpicks. Perhaps some children had to do this for a school project, but it doesn't seem like a project that is usually assigned to students. That doesn't mean that people don't make miniature models. In fact, people make miniature models of entire cities! Here are five of the most impressive miniature models of cities.

Paris

"Le Petit Paris" is a creation by Gerard Brion. He lives in Vaissaic in the south of France. He built the miniature model out of things like baby food jars, old concrete blocks, and soup tins. It took him 18,000 hours. The miniature city is in his garden and over 150,000 visitors a year come to see it.

New York

New York is a busy city. However, it has some of the world's most famous landmarks. A Guernsey inhabitant named Peter Root spent 40 hours making a replica of New York. It is not an exact replica, but it is impressive. The entire city is made of staples!

Toothpick City

Toothpick City took six years to create. It is built with toothpicks and glue. Toothpick City was built by Stan Munro. He works for the Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse, New York.

Sugar City

Sugar City is a miniature city made completely out of sugar. There are 600 buildings in the fantasy city, many of which are recognizable landmarks from around the world. It took artist, Meschac Gaba two years to build the city.

Origami City

Origami City is made mostly of paper. The paper is held together with craft glue and slits in the paper created with a craft knife and a hole puncher. It is not quite true origami as these things were used, but nobody is going to complain. Japanese origami artist, Wataro Ito, spent four years making the incredible miniature city.
