5 Interesting Uses for a Netflix Membership

Lindsey Russell
Do you currently have a Netflix membership, or are you considering purchasing one? Here are 5 interesting uses for your membership.

1. Use it as a replacement for cable or satellite TV.

With the advent of DVD collections of your favorite TV shows, you can easily use Netflix as a substitute for regular TV. You can watch all of your favorite TV shows one right after another, in order. No more waiting another week to see what happens. In addition, you can throw in your favorite movies for good measure. As long as you have the basic TV stations as well, you should never be at a loss for entertainment. It is a much cheaper alternative to cable or satellite TV.

2. Use it to catch up on your newest favorite shows.

Many people get very frustrated when they become a fan of a show when the show has already been on the air for two or three seasons. Why not use your Netflix membership to catch up on all those past seasons? With the advent of having TV shows on DVD, you can now catch up easily, and fill in those nagging questions.

3. Use the queue positions as incentives for your kids.

If you have kids, you can use the queue positions on the Netflix website as motivation. For example, you can reward you child for helping around the house above and beyond his or her normal chores by allowing their latest movie selection to move to the head of the Netflix line. The only problem is that Mom and Dad might have fight in order to get their selections to the top of the list.

4. Use the material you obtain from Netflix as research material for new Associated Content.

If you want to review TV shows and movies on Associated Content, Netflix is a great way to do that. In fact, if you plan things properly, your Netflix membership will begin to pay for itself. In addition, you will never be out of material for Associated Content. The trick is to pick the right movies and TV shows to review in order to make the most money on Associated Content. Here's another tip: this can also be used as a way to pay for your movie-going experiences. It just might take a little bit to pay off.

5. Start a new weekly tradition surrounding your Netflix membership.

If you and your significant other, or other members of your family, are true movie buffs, you can set aside an evening every week during which you watch your favorite movies. If you really want to get creative, you can take suggestions and then use a rating system in order to determine the order of the all-important Netflix queue.

There are a lot of reasons to at least try Netflix. It is much more convenient than going to the nearest movie rental store, and in the long run, it is much more cost effective. If you get Netflix, you won't find yourself searching aimlessly at the movie rental place looking for something acceptable for everyone.

Me and hubby each won a years free netflix gift certificate from a contest about 6 months ago. We've been making good use of it. You have some great ideas :) I planned to watch a movie and write a review while it was playing but I can't it's too distracting. I still have not season season 1 of 24! So this is a great idea for those that miss some seasons of their favorite tv shows that they didn't discover in time. Every weekend me, hubby and the oldest kid watch netflix movies late at night (the violent and horror ones) and usually we watch one kids movie earlier in the night on weekends so the youngest one gets some family movie time. We just watched How To Eat Fried Worms it was gross but better than some of her picks.

Good suggestions. I have not tried Netflix yet and was thinking about giving it a try. Especially liked the idea of using it for review content for associated content. I do not venture out to movies much and Netflix would give me a 'leg up' in the movie review area.
