5 Last-Minute Holiday Gift Ideas for Your In-Laws

Jeanne Marie Kerns
Are you scratching your head at what to buy for your in-laws? No need to worry, here are five super tips on buying gifts for your in-laws this holiday season.

Buying gifts for your in-laws is not as hard as you might think it is. Before anything, finding out exactly what they enjoy is the key to a successful gift giving Christmas. Do not be afraid to ask your in-laws what the would prefer. This eliminates any possibility of wasting money on something that is just going to sit around in a closet or basement collecting dust.

Food is always your best bet when you have no idea what to buy for anyone. Making baskets that contain numerous items of the gift receiver enjoys is always fun and not as expensive as you might think. For example, if your in-laws enjoy Italian food, you could easily go into any store and buy boxes of different kinds of pasta and sauces. You can also buy spices such as oregano or basil to add to the items. Buy numerous different sized mason jars to store the pasta inside. Once you have all your ingredients, place on top of hay to give it that rustic look. You will have no present swapping when you give this to them. I can guarantee it.

Another great gift to give are restaurant gift cards. There are many different restaurants you can choose from and many different amounts you can buy. Some of the best restaurant gift cards you can give to your in-laws are from Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesdays, Chili's, TGI Friday's, and even Black Angus. These are just a few of the many restaurants that offer gift cards for all occasions. If your looking for a specific gift card, just give the restaurant of choice a call and ask if they offer them.

Another great gift to offer your in-laws is magazine subscriptions to their favorite magazine or the hobby of their choice. Reader's Digest, Sports Illustrated, Time, National Geographic and hundreds of other magazines offer holiday subscriptions for a very low and reasonable price. If you want something else to add to the magazine subscriptions, you can also add newspaper subscriptions from around the world. I myself love reading the New York Times, there for if someone were to get me a subscription for Christmas, it would be a perfect gift.

One of the most perfect gifts you can give to your in-laws is peace and quiet. Where can they get this you might ask? Well setting up a day at the spa getting pampered could be the best present they have ever received. You know yourself relaxation and quietness is something everyone wants once in a while. Call around and check out prices to different spas in the area. It can become pricey if you do not shop around first. You can however find great deals at many different locations during the holiday season.

And last but not least, if money is tight this year, one of the most precious gifts you can give your in-laws are framed out pictures of yourself and your spouse, or their grandchildren (if any). Try and spend a little money by buying the multiple photo collage frames however. This is much more amusing and appreciated. It also shows that you put time and effort into making the gift special. You just cannot go wrong with pictures.

Have a great holiday season and wishing you all the best.
