5 Little Known Facts About the Movie, Bambi

Bambi is one of the classic Disney movies. It is a movie loved by people of all ages. Of course it is sad, but it is also a great movie and a great story. Because the movie is so loved, it is fun to know facts about the movie.

It All Started With a Word

The movie, Bambi , never would have been made if it weren't for the Italian word "bambino." This is because Siegmann Salzmann went on a trip to Italy and developed a fascination with the word "bambino." He then wrote the novel, Bambi , under the name Felix Salten. The movie, Bambi , is based upon the novel.

Walt Disney Added a Character

One of the most iconic characters from the movie is never in the novel. Most people know the line, "If you can't say nothin' nice, don't say nothin' at all." They usually know that the rabbit, Thumper, said this line. However, Thumper is not in the novel. Walt Disney added Thumper to add comic relief. When the character was first added, the name was Bobo.

Pinocchio Is in Bambi

Don't bother looking for the character Pinocchio in the movie. Unused scenes from Pinocchio are used in Bambi . These are during the scenes when the creatures are leaving during the forest fire.

The Movie Was Difficult for Animators

Bambi was a difficult movie for animators. They found it difficult to draw deer. The antlers were difficult to draw and the animators could not draw them correctly. This was solved by creating a model if antlers and rotoscoping them onto the film. It was also found that deer faces do not look like human faces, so it was difficult to give them emotion. The problem was solved by merging Bambi's looks with the way a human baby looks.

The Film Is in Space

While it is true that astronauts could have taken a copy of Bambi, into space and left it there, that is not the case. What is true is that there are two asteroids that are named after characters in the movie, Bambi . These asteroids are named Bambi and Thumper.
