So, you've started a blog and you're hoping to make a steady stream of revenue from Google's Adsense. Many people, after hearing how popular Adsense has become and the various successes other bloggers have had with Adsense, sign up for the program only to be discouraged later on when they're online income isn't skyrocketing. Those that stay determined and don't just walk away shaking their head end up playing with their Adsense placement and color scheme, gradually realizing their mistakes and working on them so that their website reaches its full potential. However, this process can take some time, and most people may not have the time to waste playing around with Adsense placements.

Many new bloggers or website owners tend to make the same mistakes over and over without even realizing it, badly hurting their earning potential as a result. However, all this can be avoided. The most important part of making mistakes is learning from them and teaching others how not to make those very mistakes you have. This is precisely the purpose of this article: Teaching you what not to do with Adsense before you do it. If you find yourself making any of the following mistakes, feel free to stop reading and fix each error immediately so that your website begins to flourish.

1. Many Adsense users don't follow Google's terms of use. While following the rules might seem like common sense, you'd be surprised with how many people break them. Everyone wants to increase how much money they make. That's fine. However, some website owners take part in "artificial clicking" and this is not fine. Unless you want to suffer from some dire consequences, such as being permanently banned from placing Adsense on your website(s), never click your own advertisement links, never ask friends to click the links for you, and never encourage your website visitors to click your advertisement links. Getting your Adsense account permanently suspended will damage your revenue a great deal and decrease your earning potential mightily.

2. Many Adsense users have bad color palettes for their advertisements. Usually this is the case because content publishers may not know what colors work best or they may not have the time to change the default color palette. Visitors are more likely to click advertisements that are clearly visible and distinctive rather than bad ads that stand out. In fact, bad ads might even have the opposite effect and drive visitors away!

3. Many Adsense users don't position their ads properly. The position of your Google's Adsense advertisements is probably one of the main elements to successfully raking in good income rather than trickling in a few coins. This is why it's imperative that you get your Adsense position right in order to maximize your profits. For this reason, several people have blogged about it on the Internet and Google has discussed it in the past. Google also offers Adsense users statistics that describe which positions work best on your website.

4. Many Adsense users use banner advertisements. Often times, 480x60 advertisements drive visitors away from your website, for many Internet surfers are naturally repelled by these advertising means. You want visitors to stay on your website, not quickly glance at the page and move on.

5. Many people stop adding new content to their website in hopes that they'll continue getting Adsense revenue. However, if your website isn't updated occasionally, regardless how good it looks, your Adsense revenue will start to decrease because your daily visitors will stop visiting your website. Put it this way: If you've ever started a book series and the author just suddenly stopped adding books to the series, you'd get disappointed. Your website is pretty much the same way. People want to learn more from you, not see that you've disappeared.

To wrap things up, those are the top five mistakes website owners make when using Google's Adsense. If you stray away from all five mistakes, you'll find that your Adsense revenue will start to pick up and increase as you add more and more content to your website. So, keep building that blog and watch your money grow gradually!
